Fastest OS on new Client ?

What is the fastest Operating System with the new Client. On the old Client, Win98 was about the best, but I get the feeling the new one runs faster on newer OS's. Any opinions.

On my Athlon 1.2 GC/s I have installed SuSE Linux and Win 98.

During phase I Linux was something 5 or 10 percent faster - without starting the Xserver. :D
