I have some news from the Anarchy99 DF camp
we have sold an xp 2400 and an xp 2600 to relatives
we are losing the lease on a 5 cpu farm and I am going to be backing off my xp1700 laptop due to heat issues
all in all the A99 camp will become only a spark from the fire it once was
I would like to thank the following people
Tank, for the power that put us on the map
RD-tnt, for the boost that put us in the top ten
Detemeat and Jigmiester for the help in phase one
Nadeaufan1, for the constant supply of cpu that you had
thank you all for your help
I will continue to produce what I can, but will not be what I was
thanks for the fights guys and gals
I will be around in the forums to prod the slow but without the power I had I can not back up the :dump: I was spewing

I'm sorry to hear that A99, but I'm glad to hear that you will still be crunching. As everyone always says, it's not the amount you crunch, but it's that you crunch at all.
Take care! You have done an excellent job!

Heh, nothing lasts forever, A99. Of course, that applies to slow periods of production just as well as fast periods. Let's just consider this a temporary lull, shall we? ;) :D
You never know what the future holds.

A99, it was fun while it lasted.
Look at the bright side eh, you managed to help out Free-DC during a heated battle against the Arse!
So, here is hoping that your former glory (insanity) will return to you soon :smoking:

and maybe this is just the quiet before another storm soon to come, but until then this has been a great place to crunch and I thank you all for that:D
now lets see who can catch me :Pokes:

I'm on my way with a bit of newfound power. By the way, why don't you ask those relatives to crunch for you? I know several people who've gotten it to work.

the problem is that they are on dial up and they never seem to have the desire that I do to keep them running, they just dont get it or even have a clue:looney:
plus they are going to be far enough away that I dont have to play 24/7 tech guy so fixing or even dumping it for them is out also

There will be another ramp sometime, Anarchy99. Just consider this a bit of time underground.
PY 222, I'm going to assume that was a typo, and not a gratuitous insult towards Ars. We're all crunching for the same reason, to help science, and the compitition is just here to spur us all to crunch more, not to prove who has the biggest virtual naughty bits.

A99,
I hope this drop in production does not mean a drop in your posts. I have to give you 15 out of 10 for content. They keep me amused and amazed :)

I don't think it was meant in a mean-spirited way, at any rate. Most of the guys around here know that the 'leaders' or 'founders' or whatever you want to call us all came from Ars originally and that we still feel a great deal of affection for our old home. Even since the creation of Free-DC many of us have gone back to help Ars in one project or another for various lengths of time. We enjoy picking on them, but in much the same way you'd harass and poke fun at a sibling. ;)
As Ars Technica is my second favorite DC team in the world, I'd certainly step in and say something if I saw anyone here being overtly rude or discourteous to them. The occasional playful jab at them, however, is allowed. :D
Having said all that, let me also say that I'm having a really good time slapping them around in DF, so let's all keep up the good work!

A99, I feel your pain. I too once had an entire lab devoted to my (DF's) service, and then several roommates and friends who agreed to crunch for me. those who were around when i first appeared about a year ago will remember my glory days  but now i no longer am able to harness the big cluster and my friends all gave up sooner or later and most of them now think i'm obsessed (well, just a little) but fear not, the power comes and goes, and just keep crunching with what you have :)

No qibhom, I hold Ars in the greatest respect and my "typo" was only meant as a friendly insult to help spur some fire in our quest to maintain our lead in DF. I apologize if I offended any Arsians in here.
As a matter of fact, let me tell you that I actually wanted to join Ars back when I was crunching SETI but I didn't like the fact that TLC was such a huge team and I know I couldn't fit in well with such a large crowd. So here I am. Nice a cozy and right next to the fridge :D:D

the loss is killing me
its not simple like the loss of a limb or something it really hurts, more like sitting down with food and realizing the remote is clear on the other side of the room
its not permanent like a tattoo but temporary like marriage I know, but Im dying here
