Stefan has posted some news about the project.

And we're at #30, soon to be #26, then it will take more time to move up the rankings..... or more if more people join in.

We've done a great job so far, crunch on!

Here is a link to the update. (http://gah.stanford.edu/new.html#latest)

They are merging the genome client into the folding client !
That is very very bad news for me.

It sure isn't good news for me! To quote from the post:

"Aside from looking a lot cooler than a simple text-based console client, the new G@h2.0 will vastly increase the scope of research problems we can tackle. Since this client can auto-download the specific "scientific core" that is necessary to process a certain workunit, we're going to be able to test new design algorithms, design new classes of molecules, and look at a whole host of scientific questions that were out of reach with G@h0.99."

It may look cooler, but I can't get that core in through the ol' corporate firewall. :( I've posted the problem numerous times, but it's never even rated a reply! Not only that, but don't they know that "simple text-based console clients" are more efficient?

On the bright side, it sure will free up my boxen for Distributed Folding! :p

You're killing Paratima! :)

Distributed Folding is my new home for sure.

I am not happy with Stanford at all, and now with this news, I feel no remorse for walking away from their projects.

Ya know how it is, IB... If it ever gets to the point where ya can't have fun doin' it, why do it? ;)

We had a lot of fun Genoming, now we'll have fun at something else. Word gets around like lightning with this crowd. Project loyalties are definitely written in sand, if not actually water and right now Distributed Folding is amazingly eager to keep us folding.

When/if Stanford suffers an attack of common sense...

OK I'll bite.
IF you don't like G@H or F@H since they are stanford projects, what is Distributed Folding?

It's a much newer project run out of the University of Toronto. According to the best info we have, it's supposed to be complementary to, not duplicating, the Stanford projects.

...and the administration is very friendly/helpful. :)
You are hereby cordially invited to come over & fold a while.

Don't jump to conclusions before you know: in the Yahoo G@H newsgroup, Stefan replied that there will be a command line client and there will be a nonet option. Like he said: no need to change a winning combination.

As for Distributed Folding: it looks like a nice project. I let it run together with G@H on two Tbird's, and the client died all the time, so I took stopped it. When I reach 100K in G@H, and Distributed Folding still goes on, I'll give it a try, or some other project may have come up, cool and interesting with competent people running it. DC is sure popular these days:)

i have just 1400 more WU's to go to hit 100k in G@H , then i am dropping back to a single boxen for it, just like i do in F@H, one boxen
