Help please. This is what i did. From mozilla help i checked plugins. downloaded real player . I am using redhat 9. I assume my amd proccessor is intel compatable?

Instructions on site page said this
1. Once you've successfully completed the download, you will be ready to install the RealPlayer. To do this, you must make the installer executable and then run it:
* Example:
chmod u+x rp8_linux_alpha_rh62_cs1.bin
./rp8_linux_alpha_rh62_cs1.bin

In my terminal I did this
[ghost@localhost ghost]$ chmod u+x rp8_linux_alpha_rh62_cs1.bin
[ghost@localhost ghost]$ ./rp8_linux_alpha_rh62_cs1.bin
bash: ./rp8_linux_alpha_rh62_cs1.bin: cannot execute binary file
[ghost@localhost ghost]$

What am i doing wrong?

You got the one for the Alpha processor (hence the 'alpha' in the name). ;)

Here's the one you want:

Here's an update for the v9 codecs:

Hope that helps!

well the installer ran, thought i was good. in my terminal message said segmentation fault. when i go to realplayer8 folder there is an gnome icon titled realplayer- when i open that i get this-There was an error launching the application.

Details: Failed to execute child process "__LOCATION__/realplay" (No such file or directory).

i opened mimeinstall.sh with geedit to read it and says install went ok. same with pluginstall.sh.
was told to restart and i did that.
drats, time to go to work.

thanks for help Dyy.

Well, now that you're on Linux I guess I can share some icons with you. :D

http://www.zerothelement.com/offsite-images/zerothelement-icons-glass.png

Zeroth Element Glass Icons (http://www.zerothelement.com/downloads/zerothelement-icons-glass.tgz)

I think there's about 40 or so right now, though I'm always making new ones.

You'll find two sets of the icons I'm using, one with grey backgrounds and one with violet backgrounds (like the ones above). You'll also see a short readme.txt about the icons, and an .xcf file. The .xcf file can be opened in GIMP and has the layered version of all the icons. With it, you can create new icons in the same style and create different versions of the current ones by modding the background color. Hope you enjoy it.

What would be the point? Putting a Picasso up in your trailer doesn't hide the fact that it's still a run-down dump with plastic pink flamingos in the front yard. Windows is ugly & that's all there is to it. ;) :D

However...just to be fair, if you have specific apps you'd like icons for, I'll be happy to make some like these in a format that our aesthetically challenged Windows friends can use, too.

DISCLAIMER: Lest anyone think I'm some kind of zealot (I can't stand zealots of any stripe), I actually *like* Windows. I just think it has a very utilitarian interface. For the record, I also like Mac OS X, though I find the interface too 'lickable' to have on a computer owned by a man. :D
