Howard has posted some information today concerning yesterday's problems. As expected, the problems appear to have been limited to the Windows client and were caused by compiler issues. They attempted to switch to the new .NET compiler and had problems with some of the optimizations.

They made a couple of attempts to fix these problems, but in the end, they've decided to go back to compiling the new version of the client with the same compiler they were using before. This should (in theory) take care of the problems we've been seeing.

Howard's posted a link to the executable only, but we've already seen a couple of people having issues when updating just the .exe, so we're going to suggest that all Free-DC members running the Windows client delete the client completely, go to the Distributed Folding download page for the latest complete package, and then reinstall it from scratch.

You might want to keep an eye on our DF forums for updates on this situation. If you need help from your teammates, this is also the place to go.

Let's get this straightened out and get back to crunching...we've got a long day of kicking Team Stir Fry around tomorrow!
