Don't know about "faster", but the time / energy graphs seem to appear quite a bit more sane now - at least I haven't seen any bizarre 20 hour long spikes spent on one generation. I have more Ghz here - just can't get things arranged to bring them on line.

Wish I knew how to run WinDoze boxen headless, I'd load the clients up as services, and use some of my KVM ports to bring up three or four other boxen...

It's a networking system and yes, it will do what you're looking for. I have a primitive one in the works, but IB, I think, is the master. I'm still just playing with it.

seems the energy/score thingy dropped below 5 much faster, we haven't really done much work in terms of volume and have better results than the last algorithm

Another way to do it (If you have a Linux box on your network) is to use rdesktop--I run my WIN2K servers at work that way, and it works great. But VNC will definitely get the job done if you are in a strictly Windows network.

I agree FoBoT - this client is doing what it should have from the start I think. Much smoother point flow to.

Install VNC as a service on all the boxen you want to connect to remotely.
Use the VNC viewer to connect to those boxen running the VNC Service.
Use a simple password, like 1
works great and is fast.

VNC seems to work for one box, which I could never connect to with remote desktop. But....

It just gives me a blank screen when I connect to another box that DOES allow remote connections. Dunno how to fix that problem. If I can get over this, I might just convert my (couple of) Linux boxen back over to Win XP-Pro, especially the 2.8 Ghz HT box, (and the new 3.2 Ghz HT box when it arrives in a few days :D )

An interesting observation :crazy::

My Linux box has being working flawlessly since the update and is on Gen 187

My Windows boxen start ~24 hours later and now are coming up to the end of the first set...

My Linux Box has the highest RMS...

Linux Box = Barton 2500+ at 2800+, Mandrake 9.1

Windows Boxen = 2 x MP2400+ and a P4 2.4 @ 2.7, Windows XP

All are below 6.9 RMS which indicates that the new algorithm is helping :)


(And yes, I know that different platforms/OS can't be benchmarked against each other - just interesting that the initial lead that *nix had in my systems has now dissipated)

You can run windows headless. A lot of my servers at work are headless.
If you run 2k server, XP Pro, or Windows 2003 server you can use terminal services.

Terminal services is very good and over a lan it is the same as being at the console.
VNC, Remotely Anywhere ETC are rubbish in comparison to TS.

A lot of my PC's in the home farm are headless, I use TS to control them.

Make sure you use terminal services client 5.1 on your management station.
This is standard in XP but can be installed on a 2k box.
