Hi I'm still new at this.
I have my system on day and night but it won't upload, it just keeps starting a new generation. I've tried quitting and then connecting to the Net and then starting it again to see if it will see the connection but nope it just keeps on trucking.
I may have screwed it up though I had it running in quiet mode " -qt " and then decided I liked the pictures :p so I removed the " -qt " switch ( edited the batch file )but now I read that there was a "-qf " switch there before ( I guess I didn't see that) . Anyway do you think that would cause the failure to upload?
It's going to be one orgasmic upload when I get htis fixed! :p

won't be a huge upload if it's rstarting at gen0, you did install the latest updated .exe (Wednesday, July 23, 2003, 1:43:24 PM) if not it could be somewhat deffective and it keeps starting over. how many gen's does it say are buffered?

103 gen. buffered

Yeah I got burned by that last update and had to download just the exe but since then I deleted it ( the updated version ) and then downloaded and reinstalled it again from a fresh download. When I got rid of it I just deleted the distrib folder in my C drive, is there a way to uninstall other than that way? I mean it's a messy force way of doing it.

well you installed it by unzipping it so deleteing the folder isn't that forcefull

What does your error.log file say, obviously if it's havn't issues it should report them.

sure your not running with the -i f (no net access) flags? have you tried stopping the client and running it with the -u t flag to force an upload (may want to backup the directory first in case something goes wrong)

what is the executable line in your batch file look like?

sounds like either it can't access the server (should be in the error.log) or a flag is messed up somewhere.

First off I just found out that I have accidentally posted here by mistake because I'm an ARS TSF member :p and like I said in my ARS post I did not do this intentionally.

If you still want to give advice that's ok and if not that's ok too. I won't be offended.

Yeah piles of errors in the error.log :

ERROR: [000.000] {ncbi_socket.c, line 1173} [SOCK::s_Connect] Failed SOCK_gethostbyname(www.distributedfolding.org)

ERROR: [000.000] {ncbi_connutil.c, line 801} Socket connect to [url]www.distributedfolding.org:80 failed: Unknown

and today...

ERROR: [001.001] {bbox.c, line 418} Tried to BDRemove non-existent (-1.49990,0.80019,13.14856)
ERROR: [001.001] {bbox.c, line 418} Tried to BDRemove non-existent (0.00000,0.00000,1.10023)

Yes I do have teh -if ( you meant " -if " didn't you not " -i f "? ):

.\foldtrajlite -f protein -n native -qf -if -rt

...and I just removed the " - if " and it is now uploading all 123 gens now.

Well, I certainly have to thank you DocWardo for being a good sport (even though you didn't know I was on the wrong team ) :p but still...thanks!
I hope there's no hard feelings over this.

So far as I know, people from ARS are quite welcome here - some of them post more-or-less frequently. In fact, can't think of anyone from any team that ISN"T welcome here. Come on in - have one of IronBits's virtual beers....

rsbriggs is correct, Ars people are more than welcome here! We (Free-DC & Ars) go way back. :D

Can't count beating them if the only way we are beating them is cause their clients are broken ;) :harhar:

You were in mostly the right place, just not far enough down on the page.

The *Official* DF forum is down toward the bottom of the main forum.

You just stumbled into this friendly place by accident, and that's great.

Thanks guys, I guess the 0.00001% that complain and fight stand out, but it's nice to know that the majority of the people here get along and help each other, even other teams.

I never saw this  or I would have used it :p
