What's the most efficient, quickest way to configure DF to work? I currently use:
.\foldtrajlite -f protein -n native -rt -qt (Windows XP Professional)
and
./foldtrajlite -f protein -n native -qt -rt -it (GentooX Linux)
I feel neither boxes are being quite efficient and I just want to make sure I can crunch as fast as possible , any suggestions welcome! Thanks!

Hi,
with "-g 0" you can define that the "progress.txt" is never written; you won't be able to track the progress then (and programs like dfGUI won't work since they use this file) but it will bring you some cpu cycles ...
At least that worked during Phase I of the Project; it should work in the current Phase II, but I'm not 100% sure ...

Well, joining Free-DC has been known to speed up some people! :D
Or maybe it just seems faster when you have lots of friends. :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy:
Oh, and make sure you have all screensavers turned off!

You need at least 256MB of ram to use the -rt switch, else it will swap itself in and out of ram, slowing it way down worse than if you didn't use the -rt switch at all.
Otherwise, you're doing the best you can!
Welcome

Well, I have 1024MB DDR ram, so I don't think thats the problem. My linux machine has less, so I'll remove that switch from it. If anybody can tell me what arguments/switches they are passing to foldit to run faster I would appreciate it.

This is all I use
.\foldtrajlite -f protein -n native -qt -rt (on Windows boxen)
./foldtrajlite -f protein -n native -qt -rt -p 10 (on *nix boxen)
-p = priority
