Oh, yeah, Cray was a giant in the field. There are still several Cray YMPs in use by the Navy, in classified "Oceanographic research". For that, you can read "remote sensors", mainly under-sea listening devices. It's a good measure of someone when their name becomes synonomous with something.

As in, ask people of a certain age what they want for a computer, and they will tell you "a Cray".
