is there really any advantage to changing the RAM setting?
back a while ago, upping the RAM setting resulted in some crashed/hung clients, i don't know if the client has been updated since then, but does anybody actually know if upping the RAM does any good?

I'll add a couple more clients today when I get into the office. I've got one or two machines that aren't doing anything important (testing boxes) that I could be using.

Found this (http://www.chessbrain.net/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=241&highlight=ram) on the CB forum

yeah, that is from March, that was about the last time i played with the RAM setting
i am going to leave all mine at 16MB so the boxen have more RAM for the other DC project, many of mine are 128MB boxen running XP, so they are scarce on spare RAM anyway

I have machines set from 16 to 128, but I have no idea if it makes any difference in production. But I have not seen any crashing on any of the clients.

I have most set to max. I can't prove it but I believe the more mem available the quicker it returns results hench the more likely you are to log work against other machines.

Haven't seen any increase in speed using any other memory setting - so I've left all mine at 16MB...the only problem I have seen is that it takes around an hour after the last communication with the server for the memory used to be released...

I've got one machine set at 128, and one set at 16. The one I have at 128 has 768 total, though, so it's not like the extra 128 is hurting anything... ;)
The one at 16 has 256 total, but since both of these machines are running DF in "-rt" mode, it doesn't have another 128 to spare. 64 would even be tight, I think.
I don't know if it really helps production, but neither client crashes. Both machines run Linux.
