The guys at Distributed Folding have released a new version of the client. It's available at the regular place and it purportedly fixes a memory leak as well as a couple of other things. It will automatically get sent during the next protein update, but for those of you worried about the memory leak (like me), it's probably worth getting and manually installing ahead of time (i.e. NOW).

I've only had it running for a couple of hours so far, so it's too early to tell whether this is the definitive fix, but I've got my fingers crossed. I had to switch all my clients to low RAM usage because of this leak and it was seriously affecting my stats.

As I write this, Howard hasn't said anything in the memory leak thread about this update, but here's what he posted on the news page:

Memory leak fixed: A small memory leak has been fixed - new executables are available for download. The changes to the client will be included in the next protein auto-update

So, if you've been having problems with the DF client lately, you should definately give this new version a shot.
