I find out what my user ID is but I'm not sure what I have to do with that number? Should I put it CB client?

How to find out your userid:

# To retrieve your UID visit the following URL
# and replace user@domain.com with your email address:
#
# http://www.chessbrain.net/member/getmemberid.php?user=user@domain.com
#
# The return is XML, so you may have to view source on the browser page!

this lines are from the cbspn.conf

You'll get something like

<gmid id="494"/>
494 is my userid, you must get another one

You must give this (not mine, yours :D) number to the client

Open up the cbspn.conf file
Find this line: uid=*
replace the * with your UserID
save the file and restart the client

Thanks. But, when I do that I still see that userID on client's screen is 20. Is that OK, or I should do something else?

5PM is approaching! Hope I'll set up everything :bang:

If you are using the windows client goto 'File -> Register' be sure to enter the e-mail address you entered when you registered on the WRA member page (Did you register your account on the member page?). You are most likely getting userid 20 showing up because you edited the wrong cbspn.conf or the client is using the registry values rather than the .conf file. UserID 20 = no user

If 20 is your UserID that you got off the website, then yes, that's fine. If that's not your number, then something is seriously messed up :)

UserID 20 = no user

hmmm, I didn't know that.

Yes, it is 285. And I put it in conf file. But I'm not sure how can I force client to use that conf file?

start it from the command line:

<path to cb client>\cbpncli 1, <path to cb client>\cbspn.conf

Assuming you have chessbrain installed in c:\chessbrain you would do this:

c:\chessbrain\cbpncli.exe 1, c:\chessbrain\cbspn.conf

Try it out and see if it works for ya, I haven't tryed it myself.

EDIT: damn rshepard beating me to my b-day spoilings

type it in a DOS window or goto START BUTTON -> RUN and run it there. In all actuality if you are running the windows version (non commandline mode) then just goto FILE -> Register and stick in your e-mail address and hit OK

It'll do it for you.

YES! That is exactly what work! Now I get my user ID on screen! I was thinking that I already register myself (at least something like that was writing at FILE -> Register. Anyway thanks a lot for help. Now lets set up new WR!

After changing your UID restart your client.

Infact there was a bug in earlier versions of the phase 3 client that mean't a reboot was necessary before the new UID was recognised.

If you can, reboot your PC to be sure the new UID is being used.

If you have a peernode monitor program then the UID will be shown.
I found that after changing the UID via the CB agent the anonymous UID was still being used until I rebooted.

It seems client is now using my user ID. I did restart it, anyway. Thanks :)
