Good to have another DF cruncher onboard.

Let us know if you want any help for tweaking the client, etc.

Hi. Thx for the welcome; glad I can contribute to a worthy cause. Can you help me with three questions?

1) It is 8:13 am Eastern and yet the stats page, http://anteater.blueprint.org/cgi-bin/trajstore?globalstats=1 was last updated
Distributed Folding Project Statistics
as of: Thu Feb 26 06:03:26 2004 EST
how frequently do they refresh it? It is over 2 hours stale.
8:23 update: it has been refreshed and has a date of 8:03.

2) Is there not a DF page like SETI's for {activity in last 24 hours }, like who has contributed the most in the last 24 hours ? If not, I wonder if this is something we could ask for because with you old timers making the leaderboard (congrats!) after months (years) of computing its hard to determine the recent activity.

3) {new question after original post} When I click on the STATS button on the main free-dc page it doesnt seem to do anything -- not implemented?

Let us know if we can help in anyway.

Dy's stats are great and if you are particularly stats hungry you can check here too.

I thought I'd read that the text client was slightly faster than the screensaver, but I cant find that now, is it true? If so, significantly faster?

Also, do you know if during the first 10000/gen. zero if any points are awarded?

Thx.

Textclient is much faster. You can increase speed if you set the "-rt"-switch to the client in the foldit.bat (or answer the question of using more memory (up to 150mb) with yes if you run the client the first time after downloading). But do that only if you have enough RAM available... more than 256 mb would be great

And AFAIK the first 10,000 structs in gen 0 are awarded with 100 points.

:hiya:

Another speed-boosting tip is to use "quiet mode", or the -qt switch. This eliminates output to the monitor, and I highly, highly recommend downloading dfGUI. It's a third-party GUI by Jeff Gilchrist (Digital Parasite), and it is simply excellent (Thanks again, Jeff -- I appreciate your program everyday). It offers great support for the client, and also allows you to get rid of the client window and clear up the taskbar space altogether, by using the "Hidden" option on the Config page. Check it out at: http://gilchrist.ca/jeff/dfGUI

If you have any more questions, just ask us.

Thx for the tip about teamstats.macnn.com. I like the "analysis" column.

QuestioN: On the main Free-DC.org page, the "Stats" button doesn't do anything, should it?

AFAIK it is intended. IIRC Dyy is writing some new stats and when he finished that, the "Stats"-button will point to this stats.
