Alarm Alarm.

OK Condor is taking time off with his newly enlarged family.

PCZ is on other projects.

This leaves us light of our 2 top producers.

Ars are matching us, and sometimes exceeding us, and DPC are closing in.

I was hoping DPC would lose interest faster than they are but this has not materialised.

SO

It's up to us the smaller crunchers to keep the pedal to the metal.

What we need to do is ensure DPC don't smell a whiff of getting past us. They get the scent and they WILL pass us.

We need to seem too distant so they look at other projects and leave us for another time.

The protein change should help us as I expect several more of their crunchers to move there boxen.

We need to get going full throttle as soon as is possible.

As I can't upload my WUs fast enough I will be switching off the clients on Monday so that I can ensure to get my work uploaded.

It's up to us to hold on to this top spot and prevent the DPC hordes from claiming another No.1.:elephant:

As it happens, I put the home box back on DF last night ( I upgraded to Mandrake 10.0, and the D2OL/TSC clients didn't want to light off, so I figured DF was a good place to put it). It is probably good for holding off one very small, very scrawny cow :D . If it quits raining, I'll walk down to the office and see about rolling my "good boxes" over.

the speed of the next protien is going to be pivotal, if it is faster, it will be like blood in the water with a swarm of hammerhead cowsharks in a feeding frenzy

no need to worry about Ars, they are too divided to get onto this project any time soon

I tell ya -- if it's not one horde (Ars), it's another (DPC). Do you think changing the team name to "David" would help our chances? :jester:

I hate to say it, but I think my CB production is going to have to go on hiatus.

After the RC5-72 gauntlet and after the protein-changeover I'll come back!

Doing the best I can right now..I've got one boxen down  Haven't really had the time to fix it.

It's proposal season, and I got a couple of new contracts (on top of the other one's) dumped on me this year, which means some longer hours. Add that to the normal work and it makes "Jackie a busy girl." :)

Between that and coaching my daughters softball team, I'm strapped for time. Anyone want to come out and fix it? :)

I'll fix ya dinner. ;)

/me ponders what Moogie is doing when Jackie is taking care of all of Moogies work :p

Sorry, Moogs. Love to help, but the 80GB HDD on my home server just went crispy. I'm kinda distracted right now!

Yay for having current backups!!!

 :dump:  :dump:  Condor Dumpage! :dump:  :dump:

Well, Condor may be taking care of the new little condor in the nest, but he still found time to dump 26 million points in the last update!

Nice way to end this slow protein.

LOL Pointwood...it's an expression. :)

Paratima...I hesitate to ask about the crisp part. Does it involve smoke and alarms?

And as for Condor...WOW!!!! Great job! (how is that new baby anyway? boy? girl? How's mom?)

Moogie, no alarums, just a hdd with its feet in the air and little X's on its eyes.

It started hiccuping last Thursday, so I ran very fast & made sure it was all backed up. Kicked the bucket sometime Saturday. Controller dead, as in, "Drive C Not Found". Sure love my 80-gig USB-connected travelling backup drive!!

Back it up or lose it, sooner or later. That's a fact!

Ugh...sounds nasty but I'm glad you had it backed up.

You know what they say, back up early and often. :D

Speaking of which, where's my tape drive?

Oh, crap, I'd need a SCSI card too... maybe a USB pen drive is a better idea. ;)

Well my 0.535% is back. I see that clients don't run very well unsupervised for 6 month stretches.

Finally with the end of midterm season for this term I decided to check up on things. It's less than a month until finals, so I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunity to RK me when I get caught up designing a sram controller or sketching a root locus or whatever it is that we do. But for the moment I'm going to be a moving target.

Hopefully next year won't be quite as busy ... excellent chance of that happening ... really. But the summer should be quite good, and while I'm working I'll have an extra P4 that I might be able to toss in.

Nice to see we're still #1

ALL
I am busy today swapping my boxes over to DF ready for the new protein.
Most of them will get fresh installs so there won't be any output till after the update.
Lucky for me it was delayed a day I was too busy with real work yesterday.

Our output on nfsnet and md5crk is going to go down a lot but we can always return to them when things are a bit slower in DF.
