Can the DF project meet the planned schedule? The website says:

----
PHASE Ia - Small proteins, small sample size test.
In the initial phase, we will sample 1 billion conformers each of up to five small proteins of known structure. We hope to complete this phase by March 2002.

PHASE Ib - Medium proteins, large sample test.
We will ramp up to 10 billion conformers each of 10 medium-sized proteins. We hope to complete this phase by June 2002.
----

It looks like Phase Ia will be completed by mid-April. At the current rate (1 week/protein), it'll take 10 weeks to crunch 10 billion, x10=100 weeks to do all of Phase Ib. To finish on schedule by end of June (10 weeks away), there needs to be a 10-fold increase in the number of participants/machine. That's 60,000 more volunteers!

Time to overclock the PR!
