View Full Version : Top100 & decision time
Just noticed that I hit the top 100 in the project!!! 98 - currently
Now, should I start moving some boxen over to other projects or continue until the fast protein is finished ???
Due to the upload time, they are certainly not being utilized 100% all the time :(

I would throw as many boxen as the upload of your internet connection can handle. The rest of the boxen should do other less upload intensiv projects.
My conenction can handle the uploads just fine.... I just mean the time it takes to connect to the DF server means the machine is idle :(

you could run another client concurrently, so that while DF tries to connect/upload, the other client takes up the CPU slack
you might have to play with which one splits the best, i haven't run another with DF in a while
Yeah, I thought about it. I guess a perl/bash script wouldn't be too difficult to write, but I'm pushed for time right now.
Anyone got one which :
runs the client for a set amount of time
then stops it and creates a new copy
starts the original with a purgeuploadlist of all of them and starts it off again
keeps running the second one on upload only until it's finished
With error checking to make sure it doesn't fire off a second upload only until the first is finished?

I have some bash scripts for grabbing the results and another for looping the upload of the results.
I'm waiting on some info, but I'm planning on setting up a site for people to dump their results. My scripts will then take care of the uploads. Kind of like a caching result server. That way the big guns can stay busy crunching and we can beat those cows down.
