On the same machine is there any performance advantage to crunching DF under Linux vs. Windows (2k/xp)?

We've been discussing this on OCW Forums lately, and results speak in favour of Linux, in comparison with WinXP.

PIV gets best performance increase (around 20-25%), followed by AXP on SIS boards (about 10-15%). AXP on NF2 boards shows no advantage of either Linux or WinXP.

In general, no matter what platform is being used, Linux tends to calculate folding, trajectory and energy minimising part faster than WinXP, while WinXp has much better system times.

ICC client version seems to be much faster than itc GCC counterpart, although the benchmark sometimes says opposite.
