this is taking too long :Pokes:

Normally, I would choose the second word, but I'd spell it with a "c" instead of an "s". Therefore, I have to choose doomed.

And yes, it is taking WAY too long. Must be heap big troubles.

Update daemon has downloaded the updates - so not long to go (I hope)...

i got it on my daemon box

checking

i don't know how to trick it/extract it manually

it is 4.6 mb , so about 800k bigger than the 118 update

i'll assume that means the protein is a bit bigger, but not gigantic
who knows

Sounds like the Window client update? I use WinRAR to open the .EXE and then CN3D to check the native.val...

(Protein size is 131 btw)

yay! it is over 100 , good enough for me :|party|:

Yes its 131

If you wan't to see what size the protein is open up the windows exe with winrar.
I rename the exe to .rar to make it easy.

Just extract the files into an existing DF install and run it.

I'm not sure if it is working?? My first computer finished the 10000 and is up to gen 4 but it has a progress.txt showing all the gens have been buffered. No errors in error.log. One curious thing I noticed that the new "receipt.txt" file has one line in it that has my local IP in it i.e. behind the firewall (192.168.n.n) -- I wonder if that is supposed to do that.

Mine is sort of doing that. But it's not any IP address on my internal subnet; it's 192.168.10.106, and my LAN's subnet is 192.168.2.0/24.

Are you using the 192.168.10.X subnet? If not, and if your receipt.txt has that in it, then I'd put money on that being the IP address of the web server that's processing your upload. Makes it easier for any other upload server that you may talk to in the future to figure out which machine to ask about your receipt (because the IP is followed by something that looks like a very long number, likely a machine-unique ID, and a short number that's probably some other form of identification, or just another part of the long number).

Yes you are right, good catch. My IP is not exactly the same as that one so it must be theirs.

When I restarted it I got an error 908 - I posted details in bug forum.

All my machines are buffering but the blueprint server (for stats) seems very fast so I'm suspicious - some others are reporting different probs.

i am running it non-quiet on my laptop to watch, it finished the 10000, but now it says 2 gens. buffed

i started/stopped it, it won't upload the new gens. :/

i am getting some points, so at least some of my work machines must have updated and are getting new gens. in

same here...just got the update...no way to upload...even with the old client wíthout the update...he just exits if i press that damn 'n' for no update...even with the -ut flag...

still got buffered work from the last protein, too...

:rotfl: :bang:

wtf ???

That's nothing I've just lost about 50 buffered gens from old one and <B>none</B> of my clients have updated yet!! What is going on... where is this update...

I've noticed quite a few anomolies with my clients. It must be effecting everyone becuase our output has plummeted. 16 Million in last 24 hours vs DPC's 60 Million... A reboot has seemed to fix some machines, but it hasn't been long enough for me to confirm this. Start rebooting / reinstalling folks!

i usually try to be positive/give DF the benefit of the doubt, but all of the boxen i am checking this morning are screwed up

they all seem to have cached work from before the switch, and no matter what i do , they won't upload the old work or the new work

it is Friday (doing a protein switch on Thursday SUCKS! :swear: ) , so i have to make a choice soon, switch all the boxen to another project, or hope it magically starts working before i leave for the weekend :bonk:

i ain't got much time to decide, it'll take a good chunck of time to switch them to another project

I've switched most of my heavy hitters over to FAD for the duration. ;)

GHOST posted a workaround for uploading the old protein that worked for me

delete your autoupdate.cfg file, copy the old foldtrajlite.exe over the new one
run foldit.bat with the -ut switch, when it asks if you want to download the new version, say no "n" and if you can hit the server , it will upload your old work

he said he got credit doing it that way, i dunno about the points, at least i will feel like i got the old work clear

i am thinking i need to move off DF at least for this weekend until this all sorts itself out. i have some points from the new protein, if i stumble across those boxen working correctly , i'll leave em be, but i got stuff to do, i can't babysit this right now

good luck to all!

it appears that Grumpy has nailed down the problem - NAT

in the good morning howard thread (http://free-dc.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6224) he hypothesizes that the new ticketing system doesn't work for PC 's behind NAT's , since that is 98% of the broadband internet, i guess it is time for our dialup teammates to shine! (well, those that use a single dial up connection, not if they share it  )

incredible!! :moon:

I'm not convinced their local IP embedded in that string is an issue. However I would guess that in their haste to get things working yesterday they may have forgotten to setup some servers properly, I found this Feb. '04 post by searching for 908 in the official forum and it references the same error we are seeing.

There server was indeed reading the wrong protein version; it is now fixed.

that would tie up with why the server is reporting that the top 10 RMSs are 58 not 131...probably in their haste to sort out the HTML error they selected the 58 as the current protein and not the 131...:haddock:

Structure database was reset
Due to unforseen circumstances we have had to clear the structure database and reset the protein. This has no negative effect on your total points, these have been kept intact. If you are receiving error 910, try removing filelist.txt and start fresh.
