That's a close call but it would appear "before" might be the answer.

Facts as of last update:
13,329,379,515 us
13,066,656,858 them
=============
262,722,657 point diff

Now eyeballing http://wibble.bounceme.net/Sneakers/summary.php it appears they are averaging about 50 mill vs our 25 mil per day. That a bit of an overestimate.

So dividing the diff by the 25 mill rate increase, 10.5 days.

Today is the 20th + 10.5 days = 30th May. So with the current conclusion estimated for June 2...they got us. But if you guess that they won't do a changeover until the start of the next week...they really got us, however if they decide to change on Tues the 1st....it will be a close call!

But if you tell DPC we love to eat veal...maybe they'll hold back their little crunchers??

looking at http://wibble.bounceme.net/Sneakers/show_threats.php?tid=5 shows that the past 24 hours has been good - you've (as a team) increased production and looking at June 17th as the overtake date but the past 7 days shows that June 3rd is when you'll be overtaken (the 7 days is a better indicator as it removes any humps from dumps)...

Given that the ETC for this protein is June 2nd (Wednesday) we may just get a changeover on the Thursday so you may lose it just after the changeover...if the DF team delay it for a week then more likely to lose it before the changeover...

Either way you will be 2nd by the end of June...unless the Cows seriously drop their production rate.... :elephant:

so we don't have enough humps from dumps

are we losing #1 spot before or after the protein change?

Probably, they have got a lot of members.

Running gauntlets on other projects doesn't do much for protecting our DF position. I got sucked into the gauntlet thing, so my DF production went way down.

I know it's the culture here at Free-DC to run whatever you feel like, so I guess we will just see what happens. If enough people want to jump back in to hold off the COWZ, then it will happen. I think we have the power to do it - too bad a lot of folks got a sour taste from the last update fiasco.

Sorry you were tempted to actually do something that might be fun.

Looking all the way back to Feb...this month has actually been the best one to slack off of DF production because it is such a long protein! The dramatic difference in output of the 131 pales when I consider how quickly the update points accrued for the 68. I used to tally by the million -- now it's by the thousand.

I'm not sorry at all. It is fun.

But I don't like seeing the 1st place go away, so I have to decide for myself to abandon the gauntlet to keep the pressure on in DF.

what team is philthedrill on ? he really kicked up his output lately

what other DC projects does he run? or is this an enigma/windfall for him?

if i can find some time at work next week, i'll try to get setup for the memorial day holiday , to try and get organized to use some reserves to get a hump from a dump after the long weekend

Assemble all you can, but when sf (our biggest cruncher) turns on his firewall again, all will have been futile :flame:

for us to beleive we can hold off this team.

What we can do is keep in touch and see how they go once they have the no.1

DPC have fingers in many projects so there may always be requirements for thier impressive power elsewhere.

I suggest we keep doing what we are doing and have fun in whatever project we wish to run. DF will always be around if we want to run a gauntlet and take back the number 1.

Good luck to the cows they have covered a hell of a lot of ground to get here from where they were 6 months ago.

i figured it out

all we need to do is switch to phase 1 + phase 2 stats , then we'll still be number 2 but less than a billion behind Ars, with DPC almost 10 billion behind both of us

or maybe that doesn't help

Al little taunting is tradition isn't it ?

But thanx . . . maybe join the party ?

Anyway, 1 of our users (sf) managed to do >19 million in 1 stat-update, wich off course is amazing. Never seen a large update like that before.

And he continued doing >12 million in the next . . . (our stats update every 2 hours btw)

We'll be lucky to make it through the night in 1st at the current rate of COW PHARTS.

edit: Well - I guess we'll survive the long weekend. I didn't see that we got almost a billion (US) points from welnic moving in.

 welcome!

how many points is one set? (250 gens.)

how many sets (approximately) will an AMD 2400+ do in 4 days?

Welnic
05-29-2004, 02:36 AM
One set is about 264343. A 2400XP would do about 6-10 sets in 4 days.

Anteraan
05-29-2004, 02:37 AM
FoBoT,

264270 pts per 250 gens, and I'll leave the other ? to someone with a 2400+.

pfb
05-29-2004, 02:40 AM
currently doing a set in around 34-36 hours on my 2400+...so probably 3, maybe 4 sets (if you're lucky)...

sf is a he and has around 100 cpu's at his disposal.
and it should have been more impressive as he didn't fold the first 10 days due to the ticket problem...

Cool facts: his 47M+ points dump of last friday was 7 days of savings that took up 7Gigabyte of diskspace and he was able to dump 30M in 3 hours.
[the ticketing system works quite well :notworthy ]

the dev dept keep shuffling boxen off here and there so I keep having to change what I use. I took an HR manager for a drink the other day to see if I could borg some of her boxen.

She seemed quite disappointed when she found out I was only after her cpu cycles.

Naughty mind she must have.:D

my wild ass guess is it will be between 50-100 million points, probably about 75 M, i guess, maybe a little more :dunno:

it will take some time to get them to howard , since i don't have the upload automated :lawn:

Nice work!

If you aren't already I would suggest using the latest software to do the upload, it seems to not quit as often; and the reason I switched was because I hit an error with the earlier version. After a successfull upload I could not restart foldtrajlite (missing traj error) and had to delete the filelist.txt.

FoBoT
06-03-2004, 03:45 PM
i deployed the 5/21 foldtrajlte.exe , i think that is the newest

so far, only one set/folder has failed, it quit after about ~200 of a 400+ set, i'll try to recopy it from the source box later
