My schedule has changed some recently and I've found a couple of hours a night to dedicate to one of my own programming projects. After some consideration, I think I've decided that my next generation stats stuff will probably be the project that gets that time.
However, after looking about a bit, it's obvious that you guys haven been quite busy in my absence. http://stats.free-dc.org and http://stats.open-dc.org both look really good!
It seems foolish for me to replicate stuff that's already been done, so now I'm thinking about ways to complement the stuff that's being created by our other stats guys. Unfortunately, there's quite a bit going on here and I'm not quite sure where to start (or even who's doing what, exactly).
It seems to me that IB's stuff at stats.free-dc.org and Bok's stuff at stats.open-dc.org should probably be merged somehow, but I don't know how feasible that would be. Ideally, everything stats related for Free-DC should be available from a single URL (http://stats.free-dc.org) and present a unified look that will be easily tied in to the home page navigation. Maybe my participation shouldn't be in writing the stats stuff (as you guys seem to have that well covered), but rather in creating a unified interface to the stuff everyone else is doing.
Of course, I'm not trying to push anyone into anything or horn in on someone else's project. I could just as easily continue on with the next-gen stats stuff I've already started. I'm just trying to find the most effective way for me to contribute to our little community and if it's doing something other than writing a stats engine from scratch, that's fine with me.
So, does anybody want to get me up to speed on what's going on and what I should be doing?
