Hi guys,
I cannot upload results which i have ready on my machine :(
Everytime I try the DOS-window shows: "handle found" and shuts down and the client runs ...
What is the problem? :(

Greetings from Germany

What is in your foldit.bat file ?

-if is nonet
-ut is upload only

You probably have -if in your batch file.

Look in your error.log. You probably find the answer there.
Or you can (temporaly) disable the quiet mode in your foldit.bat: -qt >-q f
When you try to upload, a dos-window will show all warnings and errors.

If you post the error here, mayby we can help you further. (anything is posible: a missing generation, a corrupt filelist, no connection with the server, etcetera)

Ok I'm back.
I've made some Screenies:
This one comes first when I try to upload: Klick (http://mitglied.lycos.de/vespajumpel/picbase/upload/iviewcapture_date_03_07_2004_time_13_14_40.jpg)
And this appears 5 seconds after the first: Klick (http://mitglied.lycos.de/vespajumpel/picbase/upload/iviewcapture_date_03_07_2004_time_13_14_52.jpg)

About 5 seconds more, the DOS window closes and the client runs...
Please help me :)

greetings,
jumpel

You have -qt in your foldit bat file.

This will need to be removed so you/we can see whats going on with your client.

you will need to edit this line:
.\foldtrajlite -f protein -n native -qt -it -rt

change to:
.\foldtrajlite -f protein -n native -it -rt

If you find that you have -if instead of -it
that will stop the client uploading

Also
Go into the folding directory and view the error.log file.

Could you zip it up and post it as an attachment ?
We could diagnose your problem much quicker.

How can I change the line?
I don't know which file do you mean.
And where is the error.log?

In de directory 'Distribfold' you find 'foldit.bat'.

Open it with Notepad (I don't know how the Windows texteditor is called in a German version)
There is a line: .\foldtrajlite -f protein -n native -qt -rt -it

Change -qt to -q f (don't forget to change it back later :) because it speeds up the folding)

Try to upload the results again and your dosbox will display the error why it will not upload.

Post that message here.

In the same directory you'll find the file called 'error.log'
It's probably huge.
Open it with with Notepad and copy, let's saý, the last 5 errors.
And post them here as well.

There are lots of possible causes and, hopefully, just as many solutions :)

Has your foldit.bat file been renamed to DFclient.bat by any chance.
The top of your screenies say DFclient.

Your error.log shows a problem with the file: .\fold_11_bmub6meh_5_bmub6meh_protein_170.log.bz2

I never had an error like that, but this is what you can try:

First make a copy/backup of the whole directory 'distribfold' for just in case ...

Open the CMD window (Command line window / Dosbox) and go to the distribfold directory (type: cd C:\*.*\distribfold or where 'distribfold' is locate on your system)

Type: foldtrajlite -purgeuploadlist 1
(this will delete 1 generation from the filelist)

Try to upload again, if you're lucky, you deleted the 'problem' gen and the upload will start. If not, you have to repeat ' foldtrajlite -purgeuploadlist 1' several times until you delete gen 170.
You may, however, increase the number behind -purgeuploadlist to delete more gens at 1 time (e.g. foldtrajlite -purgeuploadlist 5 delete 5 gens).

I hope you don't have to spill much generations (=points)

And by the way, Jumpel, don't try it until Monday morning when the DF staff fixes their broken server.

Right at the moment, nobody can upload! :(

Thank you for your help.
But I can't upload since three weeks, Paratima.
And the others: I think I quit DF because I'm not good at write DOS entriees oder change. I think I will crash the computer by myself so happy folding and cya! :)

That's to bad for DF :(

Why don't you download dfGUI (http://www.gilchrist.ca/jeff/dfGUI/)? With this small monitoring programm you can easily make any change in the parameters, monitor your production, start, stop and even hide the client.

And the most important feature is that you can select lots of languages. Even German :rotfl:

Give it a try before you stop. (I hate to lose competition :swear: )

I know, I had the DFGui!
