how is a 30,000 stucture zero generation with 126AA going to translate into points?

less points? more points?

the same points from what I've seen...

what i mean is net points for a given time period, i am not suggesting that the points awarded for zero generation or any subsequent generations is different, what i am saying is that it is likely to take an extra 1-2 hours or some number of hours more to complete zero generation, so over the course of time, this will result in less points than when zero generation was 10,000 structures

it took me 2.5 hours to do the 50,000 gens in the second update (first working) that was available so looking at ~90 mins for gen 0 when it comes around again...saying that, the other gens are fast (~6-7 mins) so should even out (ie. more points per day for this one than the 145)...

(the 50,000 gen was an old release that some people started with - the change to 30,000 was done on a later bug-fixed client)...

50,000 ?
30,000 ?

are there 2 different clients out?

is this going to be a protein run where point hogs do 30,000 and science guys go to 50,000 ?

Earlier version had 50K. The current one is 30K (the correct one) for gen 0.

Gen 0 is 30,000

Some folks started crunching the new protein as soon as the update arrived in the proxy daemons.
It turned out to have a bug in it and the changeover was delayed.
The fixed update has a gen 0 of 30,00.

hehe - the first fixed client was at 50,000 as well - it seems the DF team found it to be too slow and changed it to 30,000...

I forgot to check my proxy's last night for updates.
Lucky really because it would have been annoying to have to roll the client out 3 times :D

checking the proxy last night was useful as it threw up the error - was a bit late in the day though (~10:30pm BST)...lucky the problem was found by a few eager people otherwise it would've been messy today...

anyway, that's going a bit off-topic...

Well, it seems to be straightened out now..hopefully, things will continue to go smoothly.

I just wish there was a way to do more beta testing before the release.

Yeah...I know it has been brought up before. I guess all we can do is keep offering.

it's been just over 24 hours since the changeover fully took hold and I'm up around 150k points against the 145 protein...1 client I have had to reset and one is 25 gens away from finishing the first set...

looks like, even with the 30,000 gen 0, points are greater than the 145 - just takes a bit of time to settled down...

I've noticed the same thing. I have three machines atm, and everything seems to be working. We had a power outage at home yesterday, so it will take me a bit of time to find out what I can really produce.

Now, with the CASP going on, will the protein change weekly? How does that work?

after a bit more time, it's coming out at ~300k points above what I was getting for the 145...that's with 3 clients now cycled a set...
