This is my newest toy (it's the big one). It is a Pitts Model 12. Curtis Pitts, who started designing planes in the forties, decided to design a plane around the Vendenev M14P, which is a 360 hp radial engine made in Russia expressly for aerobatics. This plane is the prototype which Curtis finished in 1996 when he was 80. At this point 22 of them have been completed and flown.

I had read various things about the plane over the years. My first plane was a Christen Eagle II, which I had for 2 1/2 years and then had to sell 5 years ago. I was going to just buy another one of those but one thing led to another and I ended up checking out this plane. The former owner took me for a flight and I decided that I had to have when the engine started. The engine at idle has a really nice rumbling sound, and you can hear the power in it.

But can it fold proteins? :rotfl:

Still that is a big toy man.

Nope, no folding. It actually doesn't have a lot of complicated electronics, that's not what it is all about. I could trace a protein's path in the sky, though.
