Good old CP/M
Reminds me of my first Kaypro II
They're right it was better than the first DOS

I wrote my first database in dbase II on a C=128 in CP/m.
I took it into work and put it on my DEC Rainbow in CP/M mode, then booted to it's ms-dos mode to make sure it worked ok there, then installed it in the audiology department of the Seattle VAMC to track all the veterans hearing aids.
They had huge 10meg HDDs back then. :D

Had to copy my first stats program from 8" floppy to dual 5 1/4" floppy

No HDD on that first model

Didn't they say we wouldn't need anything more than 640K and 10MB HDD?

My first programs were in mbasic:rolleyes:

Netware DOS was actually pretty good. Used it for years. Even ran Win 3.1 under it. Several times, actually. Kept installing it, getting disgusted, and deleting it. Refused to deal with GUIs until OS/2 v. 3.

DR DOS was dead when Novell bought it. Can't blame the Novell septic touch for that one. Unixware wasn't that bad. Netware rocked, and is still better than any of that MS "networking" crap.

I'll admit, though, as much of a Novell fan as I am (CNE 3.x, 4.x, 5.x), I'm a bit concerned by them buying SuSE. Used to use SuSE, until I got sick of RPM hell. I hope they learn from the SuSE folks, rather than trying to make SuSE into another Unixware.

Never used CP/M. I'm a relative newcomer to computers. But, I still think Bill Gates should be in jail for the stuff he pulled with IBM and DOS. Let alone what he pulled with IBM and OS/2. Netscape, etc. Oh, well. There is another law for the rich.

I was knee deep in about 7 flavors of *nix back then.
Univell Unix, what a PITA!!!
It would take FOUR hours to install from a CD :bang:

CP/M had it's own language...
PIP was really COPY :rotfl:

guess what I think of  :)

Dammit, IB. All these years I've spent forgetting PIP, and you go and dredge it back up! :spank:

Next thing ya know, somebody will mention OS/8 or VMS! :p
