Howard,

On occasion I get this error with the Tru64 version of the client:

317788 Floating exception(coredump)

After which the gen.s are corrupted. In error.log is the message:

missing or has been tampered with; cannot continue

So I delete all the gen.s and start from Gen 0. again.

I have the ./core file if you want it.

Thanks,
Shortfinal

Some more information about this:

1) The options I use when running the client: -df -g 5 -i f -qt -rt

2) This error seems to occur only when I tell the client to terminate by deleting the lock file.

3) It has happened only one more time since my original post.

So it is not reproducible then? Unfortunately I do not think our Alpha machine has a debugger (dont ask) so a core file will not help in this case. Perhaps it is trying to divide by zero or something? Was this introduced with a recent version of the program only? We can try to reproduce the error on our Alpha box and maybe that will give a hint at least..

Howard,

So far so good with the latest protein. The error hasn't occured. It did happen only with the protein before the current one. I'll continue to watch it.

Thanks,
