Google for a different IRC client. There are a LOT of them floating around. Mirc is the best but it's shareware

Yeah, I don't like shareware if it's for something I'm just learning about. Usually takes me longer than the share time just to figure out how to use a program. Then, I can't use it because the time ran out. So, I look for free stuff until I learn the basics, then I try out other programs, including shareware.
