Nope, it's not a woman (or even a computer). It's a racetrack. Virginia International Raceway, to be exact. Yesterday was my second time riding there and it was fantastic. I have to say, it's probably the nicest track on the east coast.

If you're into racing bikes (or even cars, for that matter), you should really go check it out.

Here's my R1 at VIR yesterday:

Joe Rocket gear or Teknic? :D Perforated leather I presume? Fieldsheer has good prices on their one piece leathers.

I think the R1 is the best looking scalpel out there. So how did you do?

LOL @ 'Black Knight' :D

I've been building that bike pretty much from scratch for the last several months. I bought a wrecked R1 last spring that had 178 miles on it. A kid bought it brand new, crashed it 7 days later. When he did, he destroyed pretty much everything except the motor. The frame was in pretty good shape, but the bottom shock mount was gone (which totalled the bike as far as the insurance company was concerned). I bought what was left, created a new shock mount out of aluminum and welded the frame up. The motor hadn't even been broken it yet, so I replaced/repaired everything else and put the motor back in. It's been on the street for about 3 weeks now. Yesterday was its first time on the track.

It was a NESBA day at VIR, which means it's just track time (no races). It was a good time, though. My first experience at VIR was during a CCS race weekend, so yesterday was a nice change without the worries of competition. It was a good opportunity to 'experiment' with the track and look for places to go faster. We ran the north course and it was absolutely the best track I've been on to date. Elevation changes (it's even got a 'rollercoaster' that's very similar to the corkscrew at Laguna Seca), compound curves, good surface, and fantastic facilities. It was a positive experience all the way around.

The R1 is a total joy on the track. It handles well (though it's not as sharp as my smaller streetfighter bike), has fantastic brakes, and has sooooo much power coming out of the turns that you can slide & wheelie to your heart's content. Mine's currently making about 145rwhp, but it's about to get a new pressurized airbox, velocity stacks, high compression pistons, and cams/valve springs which should put it around 170hp at the rear wheel. I'm also a big fan of the way it looks. ;)

Oh yeah, the leathers are Technic. I'm a pretty big fan of theirs, though I have some AGV & Alpine Star stuff as well. Unfortunately, that suit's not perforated. It was HOT that day.

That 'Black Knight' comment is funny, it's the same thing my buddy said this morning after looking through the film we took yesterday. He stopped on this one:

and prompty said, "Everyone else on the track looks so colorful. You stick out like a sore thumb. What's with the Racer X getup?" :D

Looks like you are about to drop a hand full of jacks on the road to render his wheels usless :swear:

And here I was thinking the whole setup looked sweet :)

However, your shoulders look a bit broad for that bike. However, still a nice look. One of these days, I'm gonna find me a bike to ride around on. I know the one I want to end up with (http://www.yamaha-motor.com/products/unitinfo/2/mcy/5/6/0/yamaha_yzf-r1.aspx) but I want to start off with something a little smaller (and cheaper) so that should I decide that's not what I want right now, I won't be out $11G :)

Cool pics though!
