i'm kind of a n00b when it comes to linux but anyways here's my problem: i have linux box set up as a dsl router on my local network and i would like to use the linux box to crunch proteins. it works perfectly on my two win xp boxes whitch are connected to the internet via the linux router box.
The problem is that the linux box can't connect to the distributed folding server?!?! why??
this is the error message i get:
"You seem to be experiencing network problems, or may be using an invalid handle. Please correct and try again."
i have checked and double checked the handle so i don't think that's it...
please help me:help: :help: :help:

There could be some kind of (odd) problem with the route settings for local programs on your linux box. just because the masq (i assume you are using kernel >= 2.4 and iptables? if not, upgrade) computers work doesnt mean the default route is necessarily set correctly for packets actually originating from the router (although it usually does). do things like ping or ftp work when they come from the router?

thats what's wierd... all other internet apps are working from the router!
