View Full Version : Big trouble
I have a big problem...
I have "indirect" access to a 4cpu XEON machine...
We, my friend and I are running 8 instances of D2ol on that machine, RAM is plenty and HD space also...
Problem is:
All process seem to have at least uploaded once their 50 results, but theiy don't show up in the stats?!?!
All those nodes registerd to that machine show no work uploaded yet....
Any idea?

1º- You have to add your nodes to the D2OL account
Go to MY HOMEPAGE/SUBMIT PASSWORD/ADD NODE
2º- Stats are updated every 10 min
Thanks,
but that was already done...thats why I know that those nodes did'nt upload anything...
I may have found the solution to the problem in the D2OL forum, where I also postetd...
We'll know this evening...

EDIT: Doesn't D2OL play nice with the HT feature of Xeon cpus?
the single threads seem to be very slow when you start D2OL 8 times on a 4cpu HT machine
Does anybody have any infos on that?

About your EDIT.
When I was in another team there was a guy who ran 2 instances of D2OL without a single problem.
Probably you have to change priorities.

D2OL and TSC on dual machines, runs fine for me. Maybe you ought to go for 4 installs instead of 8.
It works now...
The upload went fine...
But I'm not shure yet, if 8 or 4 instances are faster...
we'll test
Thanks

Thor are you running and uploading results fine for 8 installs on a 4-way box? I am soon to try installing as well.

Yep,but it seems like it is not worth the trouble..
It is a 4way 3Ghz Xeon machine with plenty of RAM and SUSE Linux
But even the two fastest nodes counted together(which means 2 of the eight instances) on that machine seem to be outperfomed by a PIV 2.66Ghz running Win2k (which is my brothers)
Since I don't have direct access on that 4way machine, we will probably change tonight to four instances and see if it performs better...
I'll keep you posted...
