Cryptonomicon (http://homepage.mac.com/chinasaur/Cryptonomicon.html)

If you've never read this, or read any of Neal Stephenson, you owe it to yourself to indulge.

Lengthy and somewhat dated, but interesting, if you have an hour or two.

Good reading, but requires one to think, which is a bit tedious. :D All that stuff about paper tape...

"wc" reports 831 lines, 36426 words, 217705 characters. :p This will only be shown as important after reading the article.

I read that when Stephenson first posted it, it remains the longest piece of text I have ever read at a computer. I have since seen it in a bookstore. But it is not Cryptonomicom. Cryptonomicom is very long even for a novel. :)

Welnic is right as I now recall. :hiya:

This was released as "In the Beginning was the command line.."

A good read anyway

I have to agree that is a rather large chunk of text - I scrolled through it - it will have to wait for another day...

The new books, Quicksilver & The Confusion, are fantstic too albeit rather large but well worth the effort.

:D
