I've written a small program that counts the total Mpts in results.txt. It should give you an accurate calculation of the output of your computers. Check the attachment.

Thanks for that aplication. Well, I made a brief calculation and the AMD 64 3000+ makes 1Mpts/5sec giving a total of 17280 Mpts/day. Today I was going to see if I was right!

Sorry, I was just wondering why you were using the -d switch. It's actually a pretty pointless option if you download the best results as you're really counting other people's work. I only included it for the people who don't download the top results; they can keep track of their total work.

BTW, sorry it doesn't work on XP64. I don't understand why that should be. I blame my lack of programming talent unfamiliarity with that system.

When I get around to it, I might even make a version that shows the different design lattices seperately.

Is that good? no -d and I didn't download anything but the client..

Nexus
11-08-2004, 01:18 AM
That's fine. I'm not sure if you're getting the functions of the results.txt and .dat files mixed up so I'll just quickly explain and apologize in adavance if I seem patronizing.

The results.txt contains all the results you've crunched since you last submitted a batch of results. Counter.exe without the -d tallies this one up. When you submit, the contents of results.txt is shoved into results.dat and .txt is deleted. Downloading the top results makes no difference here.

Results.dat contains every result you've ever crunched. It will also contain 'top results' from other people if you've chosen to download them. The reason these are kept track of is so that the client can make an educated guess as to what a good design might be. If you don't download other people's work you can use the -d switch to keep track of just how much you've work you've ever done with that computer. Not many people will have a use for the -d switch though because the default is to download the top results and then you'd be counting other people's work.

Hope that helps.

I have a stats parser running for DPAD...it has been running for a couple of months now, but I never made a front in for the data. If you want some all teams stats for DPAD I could probably whip something up this weekend. I peeked in the database.

Free-DC ranks 5th in production for the week and 4th in production for the past month.

Romulus2 ranks 15th in production for the week and 10th in production for the past month. (They have not returned any results in the past 48 hours).

We have gained 811,433 MPTS on them in the past week.

Current difference 2,140,812. Should be able to pass them easy at this rate in less than a few weeks.

I've added one box to it DPAD today and maybe I'll put a few more on next week. I've had problems with DPAD on a few other machines, but I will give it another shot with the latest client. I really wish they still had a linux port :(

Oh yeah...also congrats to Ironbits for ranking 2nd in overall monthly production and ranking 28th in the project overall! :notworthy

Just god DPAD running on one of my linux boxes with wine. It spit out some errors, but I think it's because I don't have X installed on the linux box at all. I was able to run the 'muon1.exe -c' and it downloaded a sample file and started crunching along. I'll let you guys know how it goes when it comes to uploading the results later tonight.

Hey target butt the only think I have available at the moment for other people to look at is at http://www.dc-stats.com/dpad/

I was hoping someone else would pick up on the stats, but it never happened. Basically I have a script that runs about every hour that parses stats and calculates all the information for users and teams (rank movement and production totals) and exports all the information to a database and those 3 text files. You're numbers will vary betten these and Bok's stats for the team. I believe we start our "new day" numbers at different hours, so 24 hour stats will be slightly different.

I'll work on something for you guys tomorrow night.

Bok, I don't recall which problems there were with the FAD ones anymore, refresh my mind and I'll fix them this weekend. I also noticed the lastupdated and simulations fields in the teams.txt of DPAD are null. I'll get on these today when the miss goes off to work this afternoon.

Update on DPAD running in linux. It has been running fine since I got it going yesterday, but as I was afraid it has not been able to upload the results. Oh well looks the linux client will have to be sneakernet. At least it works :D

EDIT: I changed the output file to use tabs delimited rather than commas, due to two users having commas in their names. I also altered the TEAMS data output to be correct. These should be updated next time it runs. I'll keep an eye out on it today to make sure they come out right.

Bok
11-26-2004, 12:57 PM
OK,

I'll update my script to use tabs. I'm not actually using the teams.txt currently. It was much more work at the moment to do that, so I just let my base script calculate the team data from each row. But I will probably make the changes at some point.

As for FAD, I think it was just that some users were duplicates.

I'll run it again and check.

the best thing in your position is to hold off until the stats are back up. like you, i have lost a ton mpts (over the past year and a half) by uploading when the server is having issues. im just hoping that my points over the past 3 days are going to be counted....if not, i wouldnt be surprised as its happened on about 5 occassions before:rolleyes:

That's just what I'm doing.

What happened to me was that my stats all of a sudden got reset to zero. This was when I still had my crappy old laptop and getting to 200,000Mpts actually meant something so I was a bit annoyed. Losing a day's production I can live with, but if my stats got zeroed again I'd ****in' snap.

In fairness I should say that Stephen Brooks added the points I lost onto my score, but I think the actual results those points corresp[ond to are gone for good.
