View Full Version : Question for Mike on his stats page
Mike,
A couple days ago you tried to incorperate a distiction between factors found through P-1 and sieve. Is this a lost cause or a future plan?
Just curious,
VJS
And again keep up the good work as always we very much enjoy yoursite.

A couple days ago you tried to incorperate a distiction between factors found through P-1 and sieve. Is this a lost cause or a future plan? I'm at a bit of a loss here. I wasn't aware that I had tried to make any new distiction between P-1 and sieve. To what exactly are you refering?
Perhaps I was dreaming  (that would be scarry) or it was something else, but I thought for one day there was an additional table on one of your pages it think it was this page.

below the totals and above the current sieve point.
You had a specific section showing how many canditates were eliminated through the P-1 effort, by k, total, etc.

Errr....I hate to say it but I think you've been dreaming :sleepy: , either that or too much :spray: (I'm assuming that's not water in there)
Sometimes, dreams are forerunners of things to come... The future (or Mike) will show us if that will be the case for your dream. :D
I always found it fascinating the fact that some dreams are percieved (by me), to say the least, as real as the reality itself.
Anyways, may be, you dreamed of an upgraded version of this page (http://www.aooq73.dsl.pipex.com/ui/9999.htm).
Humm, :sleepy: is possible but :spray: :spray: is more likely
However it would be nice to have some section in http://www.aooq73.dsl.pipex.com/scores_p.htm
or similar devoted to factors found through P-1 only.
I realise you can get this information from
http://www.aooq73.dsl.pipex.com/ui/9999.htm
Which shows 73 factors eliminated between 7m<n<8m thus far were from p-1, then one could assume the additional (4917-73) 4844 factors were eliminated in this range through the p>3t sieve effort. However this is entirely unfair to p-1'er b/c they havn't p-1'ed to 8m yet, and sieve is already getting all the easy factors for 8m<n<9m. I'm sure people here understand the efforts anyways, and it's up to the individual to decide if he or she want to invest their computer power into right now or for the later.
I was just think some type of daily total and average from p-1 would be cool. Always easier said then done of course...
