Alright, it's 5:00AM on Halloween Day and I'm waiting for my laundry to finish (it finished about 2hrs ago but I'm using it as an excuse to stay up!).
When I was still in High School (all of less than a year ago) my Physics teacher told us the secret to making billions of dollars if we could figure out how to make this seemingly-simple invention. I may not be using the correct terminology for all of my situations, but hopefully you'll get what I mean........
Has anyone ever heard of a White Noise Generator?
There have been some inventions that claim to be White Noise Generators. The US government even uses what they call a White Noise Generator.
All these inventions end up being are machines that make a LOT of really really loud noise that can be deafening.
A true white noise generator will cancel out sound.
Example: I say: "HELLO!!!!" and then the white noise generates the exact OPPOSITE wavelength to my sound and it cancels out.
Seems easy to do right?
WRONG.
The white noise generator would have to generate the opposite wavelength at the exact same time (down to the nanosecond and lower) to cancel out my sound. If you don't understand how an opposite wavelength of sound could cancel out the original sound...stop reading and go look up white noise generator concepts on Google.
Unfortunately, my HELLO wouldn't be the only thing the white noise generator would have to cancel.
To be an effective tool (practical home use, highway use, war use, etc....) the white noise generator would have to cancel out all generated sound within an X range to make it so the ear could not hear any audible sound because the sound has been cancelled.
So, if anyone can figure out how to make a white noise generator that can cancel out all sound at the speed of sound without flaw, then you could make billions.
The concept isn't a bad one, and the idea of total quiet (something the universe has probably never seen) is extraordinary.
So....who can I expect the first prototype from?..... :jester:

P.S. My Physics teacher requests 1% of your total earnings, and I 0.5% of your total earnings for giving you the idea. Then again....she's been telling students this for roughly 15 years and still no prototype....
