I couldn't get this game to run on my new box, so asked for a little tech support.
Here is their response:
Unfortunately the Xeon processors are NOT supported for use with this game. Only the Pentium and Athlon processors are supported. However, try going to www.ati.com and install the Catalyst 4.11 video drivers. Also, update the firmware for your CDRW drive from the manufacturers web site. CDRW's are also not supported, as they conflict with copy protection on the game CD.
sux0rs!
All worked just fine under Windows2000 :bang:
Windows XP64 is probably the culprit... <DOH!>
Guess I'll just have to go out and buy another box just for my gaming needs...
Might as well make it with some SLI action eh? :smoking:

Ironbits, Free-DC could use it's own distributed computing datacenter *hint hint* :D

Unless I'm mistaken, he basically did this for many years... IB - what was it at one point, 45 machines total (including all the ones at the family's places)?

I had over 20, TeeJay had 19, but might be a tad over that now, and the rest of the family had over 10. Ahhh, the 'good ole days' :)
I miss the 8 node rack that I used to have running PXE boot. :D
Thanks to Bok and PCZ working out all the stuff with the OS and drivers to build the Server that controlled them. :notworthy
Then TeeJay built me the power Y-splitters so that I could run TWO of those PXE nodes on one power supply! :smoking:
Electricity just costs too much here in Califonia. I had over $500 per month power bills and I know TeeJay spent close to $400 a month.
Too hard to manage the borg pharmage these days, so only a few computers in the family run anything, other than virus and worms :rotfl:
It's getting to be winter over there in Phoenix, AZ. so TeeJay turns on more heaters and is running at almost full power of 20+ procs :notworthy
I only have 8 procs running now, soon to be 9. :|party|:
Then there are the 10+ I gave away to other Free-DC members...
The boxen I bought from other Free-DC members when they sold their pharms.
and ...
the ones I'll be donating to Free-DC via Magnav0x if I can get off my lazy butt! ;)
at least 5 nodes waiting to be boxed up, plus lots-O-parts to you (scsi toys) ...
I need a doctor and maybe a padded cell :rotfl:

IronBits,
You say electricity costs too much in California. You should visit Portugal! Here I spend ~ $300 per month and I only have two computers running 24/7. We are a rich country! A country where to have access to internet with bandwith limits, 4GB per month, you have to pay $40.

IB, if you want, I can pay some shipping and you can send some of those dormant boxen my way. I've got places to stick some computers and electricity doesn't cost that much here in Indiana!
Just seeing if magnav0x doesn't want to bear the whole brunt of the power bills.

Sorry, I promised it all to dp and mags a long long time ago.
I've just had a string of bad luck and haven't been able to get it out the door yet. :bonk:
