I've tried 3 and for some reason I can't get it to handshake properly with my parent's fax.
I have sent and received tests to BT but can't get it to work whit theirs.
Any ideas or is it just a case of theirs not working properly, although they can send/receive to other faxes.

I have a fax machine sharing the phone line with my DSL router, but I don't think that's what you're asking...
It is most likely your ADSL filters.
I guess since you had a recent install you are wires only.
You are using the filter aren't you ?
PS
If you are on BT then todays news must have pleased you :)

Just can't figure why I can't send/receive from Mum and Dad's machine.
Don't they just hand shake and find a compatible trasfer speed and off you go. I mean it's hardly high speed after all.
What's the news about Bt are the bastards finally giving us some money back for fleecing us all these years.

Hmmm - guess I was just lucky. The fax (with it's DSL filter) and the DSL router share one phone line, and have been for years - never any fax issues.
Must be Brit DSL issue :rotfl:

don't want to miss out on bandwidth.
But are you guys on fixed amounts for downloads etc?
At the moment no.
BT will be introducing capping soon.
Looks like the line speed increase is a sweetner before they start capping.
Capping wont affect me though as I have a business line and that will remain unrestricted.

Only within the last few months when BT extended their maximum range from exchanges was I able to scrape 512K, which is what I'm dealing with at the moment. Obviously I'm happy-ish with it because it is a vast improvement over the dialup that has been tolerated for so many years.
I also read about the improvements BT are promising and I can be sure that any improvement over here will be much appreciated. On a side note, we actually had a company that BT sub-contract over at my house this week to put a new pole in next to our house. Apparently telephone lines aren't allowed to go across the road to a pole anymore, unless the line is going from one pole to another. More telephone poles on the street, that is just what we need :)

Typical BT give with one hand and take away with the other, Im on wanadoo on 512K if i want faster speed I'll get capped :|
:bang: b******s b******s bar stewards.... BLEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPP!!!!
Don't you guys have some competition over there?
I'm sitting on a 5mbit down / 500kbit up adsl connection and it costs 51 Euros / month... and there is no traffic limit and nothing else...
I thought the British were ahead of us....
Well nevermind then ;-)

Wow...
WE use close to 300GB a month in my household.
30GB a month cap would kill us really fast.

Portugal is the best place to have an internet access.
To get an ADSL connection with 1000kbit up /256kbit down you have to pay 50 Euros per month. Oh, I fargot, with international bandwidth limit of 4GB /month.:swear:
Conclusion Portugal is a third world country with a lot of corruption, there's no competition because everything is own by big companies (monopoly).
Carlos
Kicked those robbing BT **** into touch today and got a decent ADSL service.
