Moved my boxen to SoB to help out for a bit, since I finally hit my 100k goal on EON. Been a long time since I've run SoB, last time I ran it, Free-DC was in the top 5. Loving the service install. However I'm not all pleased with the Celeron 2.8ghz almost doubling the output of my AMD64 3000+ M. Apparnetly they have code optimizations for 32bit AMD, but no 64bit, because my 64 barely out performs my Desktop 1800+.

Magnav0x, this is one of the two Intel-projects I know of (the other is GIMPS). Due to the algorithm they are using and the structure of Intel processors those are usually much faster.

I don't know if they have already optimized the client for 64bit processors but they had a huge performance-jump recently (up to +200%). So be sure you'r using the newest version of the client.

My P4 2.2 GHz is doing about 1.400.000 cEMs/sec. Do you know fast your AMDs are? (how do you find out if you'r using the service install?)

I also have an AMD 64 3000+ and "my" P4 3.0Ghz just doubles the AMD output!

Yes I have the latest client.

My Celeron 2.8ghz gets 2,024,832 cem/s
My Athalon XP 1800+ (1.5ghz) gets 992,737 cem/s (w/SoB Athatlon XP optimizations)
My Athalon 64bit 3000+ Mobile (1.8ghz) gets 1,106,207 cem/s (no SoB optimiztions available)
My P4 2.4ghz on Linux gets 2,022,110 cem/s

These numbers are all from the the Pending Test Management system provided by SoB.

You have to setup the service install manually. Go into the SoB directory and type "sobsvc -i". That will install it as a service. However I recommend doing it in this order:

All of this is assuming you are running Windows XP, Windows 2000, etc.

sobsvc -m
sobsvc -s
sobsvc -i

This will set it up to restart itself if it hangs for any reason. If you don't want the SoB icon to show up in the system tray goto Services in the Administrative Tools and find your Seventeen or Bust service and goto it's properties. Click on the "Log On" tab and uncheck the box that says "Allow service to interact with". Restart it and it will be running with no tray icon.

We're 11th!

why are we 11th on SOB's website but on Team PrimeRib's stat website we're 7th?

The TPR stats are a little off. They include total production for the team members, even though that production may have been for another team. For example, TPR shows Bok at 5th on the team with 51T+ production, but 40T of that was while he was on a different team. Officially, he's down around 15th place....

so technically TPR's stats are the correct ones

No, the TPR stats are incorrect. The official stats are correct and, well, official.
