I'm bored and this idea came in from nowhere while looking at some pics.

Let's have everyone run benches and post them just to give everyone something to look at. What? You don't enjoy looking at other people's benches? I'll sure you mine if you show me your's.

LoL, anyway, what bench(s) would you like to run for this thread?

The idea here is to post a pic of your bench scores and what system(s) you ran it on. Ideally with default bench settings, this levels the playing field for everyone. I know not everyone can run 3dmark05 and some options are limited in 03 but that's ok because this isn't a contest, it's just for fun.

Hell, we might even learn those non-overclockers a lesson or two in performance.:D

Back in the days of Distributed Folding, version 1, it was pretty easy. The client, once they got it stable, was a dead-level benchmark in itself. We used to use it to tune our farms, in fact. Tweak a box, watch your output. Then came the Great Revision and that all went to hell due to variability in the data.

It's tough to come up with a "fair" test. Fairness, like beauty, is very much in the beholder's mind. Ideally, you should include processor speed, RAM access, HDD access, and bus speed. Now, do you want OS independence or should OS selection and tweaking play a part? Display speed? Amount of RAM? Ain't easy.

Being as how it's YOUR idea... Why don't you suggest a benchmark and let everyone shoot at it. That might get you closer to what interested parties perceive as "fair" and "useful", as well as identifying who the "interested parties" are. :p

LoL, your being WAY too anal about it. This is more of a 'just for the hell of it' type thing.:p
