I just started this project for the first time and when I did a weird sound started emitting from my machine and is continuing as I type this. It sounds like as if you were to continuously pour sand into a glass container or if sand was pouring through an hourglass but it's really faint. Anyone know what this is? It's not the first time it's happened, I'm a bit worried.

EDIT: upon further inspection after taking my case panel off it sounds almost like a chirping noise coming from my PSU. It seems to pause for a second every few minutes.

1 of my computers has the same, don't know what it is yet but it doesn't harm the PC i think. It's running a long time like this :p

One thing to check would be: 1. Whether a prime95/mprime stress test causes the same behavior.

By the way, is PSU = power supply unit? Please be sure to tell me if it's not.

If it's the power supply unit, then it's most likeley the fan of the unit. If you dare, open the case and clean the fan. If that does not help anything, try another fan. Be careful, there might be electric charge in there so be careful and don't touch anything except the fan, or even better: don't do it at all if you've never worked with electricity.

If it is the PSU but not the fan, then, well, your PSU might be broken. Or it was designed to chirp :)
