Major hassles with instsrv and srvany

I have several winxp boxen that will not allow me to use instsrv and srvany on them.

The service just will not start.

I am not doing anything different than I have done before but they just won't allow me to run the service.

It just says it did not start in a timely manner and stays in starting status.

Any M$ guys out there that can shed some light on this.

Fozzie whats different with the boxes which don't run the service ?

I guess you are runing the same commands and using the same accounts as other boxes which are working.

Are you running the service with an admin account ?
Has somebody installed sp2 or hardened the boxes up in some way.

Give us some more info

Boxes are all the same.
Admin account is the same.
No SP2.
Same cmd's as far as I know.

I have just sent Fozzie a different version of srvany and instsrv, the version I am using trouble free, from the nt4 reskit - see how that differs....

Any other suggestions welcome though...

One thing I thought of though was are these the newer .06.06 desktop build Foz?
