View Full Version : Double check
I switched nearly all of my machines over to secondpass and my rate has dropped as a result. This does not encourage me to continue doing secondpass as it feels like I'm not getting as much credit. I (vaguely) understand the reason WHY I'm getting a lower rate, my point is that this lower rate is not encouraging people to switch to second pass, as they could be getting more credit doing first pass.
Basically I'm wondering when the new client is going to come out with the better rating of speed instead of cEMs. I don't like to put pressure on the admins as I know they're probably very busy anyway but it's just a tentative poke to see if I can get a response on when the new client will be arriving.

Using secondpass the program APPEARS to be slower. It's not really. I normally do 100G a day using my Sempron with the normal setup. I switched to secondpass and moaned about the same thing....but I still do 100G a day so it doesn't really matter either way.
The c/EMs rating is lower in the program but you are still scoring the same.

Just keep crunching! They need the help...
The stats are skewed just a tad with second pass, but when version 3 comes out, all scores will be adjusted retroactively.
Just think of it as 'stealth mode'. :D
From VJS
"Yes, the credit for secondpass tests is a lot lower than it should be. There is a bug in the credit system, as I recall it calculates scores based upon a bunch of variable including n. n is the culpret in the scoring errors.
score = (bunch of other numbers) x n^2
where it should be
score = (bunch of other numbers) x n log n
Basically when the n values were around 1M it wasn't an issue however now that n=9M it's starting to show it's ugly face.
It has been promised time and time again that this issue will be fixed in the new version and corrected retro actively. Also sieve and factor scores will be incorperated.
Louie has talked about this in the past, and the correct should occur sometime after or with the release of version 3.
I believe he states version 3 is the number 1 priority for his free time. However he did move recently and hasn't had much time."

Yes and thanks Ironbits...
To the best of my knowledge and memory this is correct. I'd have to find the orginal post where louie discussed the scoring issue.
The c/EMs rating is lower in the program but you are still scoring the same.
Are you sure about this? Perhaps it has been fixed server side?
Well server side my production seems to be lower, ie it was normally pretty much exactly 4M now it's gone down a bit. Hopefully it will go up tomorrow when I put my new box together.

They? We all need that help, you meant. We, you, they, Ironbits, me, and Matt himself, last but not least. It's OUR project, it belongs to everybody who is participating, isn't it?
As for the stats, I feel personaly happier with the number of entire tests increasing than with bloody CEM/s.
But this is a matter of taste. CU H.

:) point taken.
I reserved some more sieving ranges.
Thanks to Jason for giving me a big hand and sending me all the stuff I need to just click and run the client.
Thanks to the rest of you for giving me answers and allowing me to post off topic to help me clear up some confusion.
I hope WE are doing much better now with 3 more sieving w/sse2 and one dual xeon 2.8GHz boxen doing that huge P-1 range.
 and  to all
