Just got this off Think themselves

"Due to the possibility of server overload in June there will be a restriction of jobs made available to Dutch subnets, this is to allow the logging servers capacity to cope with the expected increase in demand. We hope you understand this short term action"

Seems sensible, don't know how The Cows will take this.

Awww shucks.

And I thought that FaD could take the full load of several large teams?

This is disappointing news for our upcoming grilling session of the Cows.

Just contacted Keith and because he sympathises with hunters and also he knows the bearhunting season wil open within a few weeks he assured me that dispite the problems with servers, we could go on with our FOZZIE HUNT

Fozzie, I'm interested in the source of your quote, I can't find anything like it on the FaD boards, and seems far to "Formal" to have been an Email..

and Think is a single person (Keith)

The traffic downloading jobs is minimal and I don't envisage any reason to introduce any restrictions. We dont log downloads. Uploads when there are large numbers of hits represent more network traffic but it is fairly easy to do the sums ... 5,000 jobs per day at 5Kbytes (about average) is only 25 Mbytes ... even in a month this would be less than a Gbyte. Obviously orders of magnitude more than this might be a problem for a single server but that is one of the reasons we use multiple servers.

The only public statement on this I recall making is that if appropriate we can add additional servers quite quickly.

Regards
Keith Davies

Rather obvious don't you think :jester::kiss:

No sense getting excited about a stampede. Fozzie's going to have them end this project before I can pass him just like he did last year in DF :neener:

You know you wouldn't have caught me.

I have significantly less power on this project due to the restrictions imposed on how it can be deployed.

Hence the reason I'm not :stomp: on PCZ, PY222 and Laurenu2.

I heard on the grapevine Meep will be deploying at the weekend so don't think you've got away from him that easy.
