O.K.Guys, I got the dualle up, and running Fad, but I need the guru's to instruct me on how to install Fadprogress on it so I can monitor it.It's a zip file so I have no idea what to do with it.Should I download it, and unzip it on my windows machine. Then burn it to cd, and install it on the linux machine that way?I need something that will show me I have completed WU's to upload, and when I need to download more work!!!!

Standard procedure for unzipping a file on a *nix box is 'bunzip2 filename.zip'. Sometimes the zip will have its own directory structure, sometimes not. It's never a bad idea to 'mkdir blah', 'mv filename.zip blah', 'cd blah', 'bunzip2 filename.zip'. This way if there is no directory structure in the zip file, you won't clutter up your home directory, or whatever folder you may have downloaded it to.

Looks like FADProgress will need the JRE too. If you don't already have it, go to http://java.sun.com and follow the links to download the binary for the JRE. The instructions to install the JRE should be on the site.

It will not tell you you have completed work units to upload.

I'm assuming these are networked together, so send it over the wire ;)

FADprogress only tells you want is currently running. (but does it well and simply and can be GUI under Linux)

You maybe better off with FADSpy (if they are networked and you are monitoring from a windows machine, can be buggy if you want CPU Ratings)

or

If its a stand alone computer and you don't mind a pretty text interface
FaDInfo http://www.find-a-drug.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4183

but has lots of bells and whistles (literally ;))

All I want is a proggie I can install on the nix box, and monitor when I have completed work to upload, and when I need to download more work.It will be used strictly on that box, and not monitored through a network, because I can't figure out how to get Konquerer to see the windows boxes on my network. At any rate which is the program to accomplish this?

In reality it already there but it's not nice

Either look in "server.dat" or use the "server -list" *I think that's it, long time since I used a linux client :o

But FADInfo would be the one your after.

at which point your best to go over to the link thread and FaD and start asking the man who made it.

He'll also add anything you need to it if possible (ok maybe not a graphical GUI)

Seen as your not using the linux machine you may actually be better of logging on straight into the command line (and not KDE)

FADProgress: doesnt have "count of jobs finished but not uploaded" nor "count of jobs in queue" at this time. If those 'puters are on your local LAN (which I assume is true or else none of the monitoring apps will be able to see those 'puters and tell you job status), then why isnt their FAD "Planned Connections" set to "When Online"? That way you wouldnt need to do the send/receive stuff, nor care about the #finished jobs.

Actually, I took FC's advice, checked ./server -list, and it old me how many I had in queue and how many were completed.I downloaded more jobs, and did the server config thing toupload every 12 hours.Hopefully, that will resolve the problem!!
