Okay, guys, I have no idea how and why they have the molecules set up the way they do, but I've heard them say it would take some major algorithmic changes to change the size of the jobs. So I came up with a new idea:

There are 100 "main" molecules that get turned into a maximum of 100 "mini" molecules, plus the main one, making a maximum of 101 molecules per main molecule(10,100 max when everything is "put back together"). So what if you had a server that had a whole job and had the task of pharming things out one "main" molecule at a time to different slave cpus.

I don't know how hard it would be to implement, but if a week-long job could get cut down this, I'd be more likely to come back into the fold.

I'm going to go "clone" this post(except for this sentence in the FaD forums).

One problem with this is there would be a lot of downtime on your 'slave' PC's while the results of the slower part job come back in. This slower part is what would take the time in the first place (And so you probably wouldn't gain much, especially for the time that would be needed to implement such a thing).
At the moment it works well, although some jobs can take a wee while, but as PC's are only getting faster in general then I don't see the time spent woth it compared to toehr things that could be done so I really doubt they would do it. Especially as the same amount of work gets done in the end (assuming the downtime can be overcome. It can think of a way but it make the splitting up even more complicated)

Waht's wrong with just letting the job crunch as it is? As I say the same amont of work gets done.
