The beginning of the Historic Festivals

The possibility to review some of the cars that had made history in the sport automobile, and a direct contact with many of the drivers that become legends, is part of a panoply of events that the "Historic Festivals" can do. Brought for Portugal through "Talento" - also the responsible for the Madrilenian edition in Jarama 2004 - the "Historic Festivals" had is first edition in the Estoril in 2003, being the success repeated in 2004, having been the edition of the last year particularly favorable for Portugal, with the consecration of the Portuguese driver Rodrigo Gallego as World Champion in F1 TGP.

Everything starts in the 'cathedral ' of the sport automobile, when a group of enthusiastic Britishs have a meeting in the Goodwood Circuit, in 1998. There, the first Goodwood Revival Meeting was fullfilled, even so in 1993 some classic cars, and for the first time with competitive intentions, have disputed a hill-climb race. However, the first meetings of the "Historic Racing Cars" are organized in 1951, then with models with 15 or more years of age.

More than four decades after, the races of classic cars already have caught the most enthusiastic public for the competition automobile, but the public in general has follow of an increasing form these races, since as many of these races have marked historic times. It's that revival fever, and the possibility of remember histories, that takes "Talento" to become possible the Oporto Historic Festival 2005, in strong alliance with the "Câmara Municipal" of Oporto. In this way, in the Boavista Circuit will be possible to review since the F1-TGP race to the Datsun 1200 trophy, the Sport Prototypes and the GT, among others.

But, behind the classic cars, the concept of this Historic Oporto Festival intends to create a series of parallel events: some of this events with social nature, but others with commercial source; and all of these events will take the people to unforgettable moments of leisure, that will allow to revive what of spectacular hides the motorsport world, either through the scale models, or specially through the real cars.

Anyone of you guys are here at Oporto? I just came back from the circuit. I saw the 1961 formula one cars on track....:scared: just like the game called Grand Prix Legends.
I have to study :bang: but tomorrow I will take a few pictures and make a movie.
