View Full Version : Adding teams to dc stats
Hi
Ironbits kindly got my team (vaio's JTS 2)on the dc stats list (WCG) recently.
I think the stats pages are really cool....and I am looking to getting more of the WCG teams listed/involved.
Could anyone please advise me as to how a team can get themselves listed?
Thank you for taking the time.
vaio.
Just ask here :)
Or log it at Feature Request (http://www.free-dc.org/bugs.php)
and I'll add them
Bok
Blimey.....you are quick :D
I linked to the stats page in a thread at the WCG forums.....so when I understand it all better I can post instructions up there. :)
I shall go look at your linky now.
Appreciate the superfast response
Bok.....Is it just a matter of any interested teams/members adding their name in that box?....under the world community grid category?
Can I post your above linky in my thread at WCG forum?
edit.....for now I shall just post at wcg for anyone who wants adding to let me know and I could request it thru this thread :)
yup,
Add them here, PM me or log them on the feature request.. Any of those ways is fine
Bok ;)
Cheers :)
I have posted for anyone interested to let me know and then I can make the request via this thread......cool :D
I quickly browsed you thread over on the WCG forums and found the MyOnlineTeam and added them..
Bok
Yes I see them.
Now my lil team can see how much we have to do :D
Can you add Team Andrax too please.
Team Andrax (http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=P0QW6DH9P1)
Be good when there are more teams for comparison.
Oh, and thank you for the fine work you guys do :)
Hi Bok........
A minor glitch.
My daughter, lilsmap is still listed as being at the JTS team when she is temping at Andrax......and stats give her the WHOLE JTS pie
Perhaps it just needs a new stats run to fix it but thought I should point it out.
http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/6152/oops0ri.png
Yeah,
it just needs a valid stats run. The last two I did were just for adding the other teams in, the scores on the existing teams didn't change at all except for this one -ve change.
I don't do anything special with -ve's as they wouldn't normally appear :)
I'm sure it will fix itself later on today.
Bok
No problem..........that was my thinking too.
People being listed at multiple teams can't help either.
Anyway....much appreciated :)
Funny you mention that. I just noticed the Hairy4Paws was on two teams. They must use unique id's internally but they certainly don't show them on the webpage.. I've added a bug for myself to change the 'name' to be name from site + team, which will correct this (I do the same for Folding@Home).
Bok
Bok, your sig.........
Is that all the different projects you have been involved with?
Bok......another request :)
Could you please add team Arizona State University (http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=31HWCQT3FN1)
Observation..........JTS stats page currently has Andrax chart  ........but the good news is lilsmap has appeared in the listing :)
Will see how it looks after next update :)
Seems your work is getting popular over at WCG......impressive stuff :)
Man you're quick :D
Pie is correct now too
Just noticed after going from team to team.....hitting refresh updates page to the correct graphs :D
Yeah, I was checking the thread over on the WCG site earlier :)
I also altered the names to be name+team which fixed lilsmap. Still a small bug with the JTS team name stored which I need to fix which isn't really that big of a deal to anyone but me.. (having a ' in the name is always a problem when using sql....)
The charts have a long standing bug caused by php sessions which I've never been able to track down, where if you jump from page to page it somethimes doesn't refresh it's information. As you've found out doing a hard refresh fixes it...
Bok
Bok.........two further requests :)
Vulture Central III
and
SuperBytes Belgium.
Much appreciated.....good to see the list expanding.
Ha.......just looked at the statspage..you beat me to it again.:D

This is an amazing product.
Could you please add Vulture Central II to UD / United Devices / grid.org?
(whichever is your title)
Do not confuse with Vulture Central III just added to WCG. It is working. :p
(Vulture Central I is at SETI but I am not working there.)
I found the "team add" thread.
3900 members!!
At only 250 members per page I'll have to grab 16 pages.. Give me a few mins...

no rush. Many are old members with zero or no longer contributing....
Members with results are still valid, but I would like to pass them someday.
I don't want to mess up your system any more than necessary. :D
3974...at last report...
Added, but it needs work. It only shows 3001 users from the 3974. I'll do that on my development system to avoid more breakage. I think I've probably hit some different regexp which it's not parsing correctly.

Good. I have helped to test the system with a large report.
It may be easier to capture the list and add part per day, with a check on new members until it all is in.
The vultures are not the largest in UD.
1 Team 2ch 56,374
2 Easynews 16,816
3 Vulture Central II 3,974
Just a pity UD don't provide some xml/csv/txt output file I could parse instead of doing the html...
numbers is not really that important, though it obviously adds to the processing time. It's more where they deviate from their normal html :)

In WCG, the only team with more than 1000 members is this one
Slashdot Users 3,395
Multiproject sigs .... cute.
I'm only in two so far.

Bok Many teams and members have unprintable characters, quotes, multiple spaces and all sorts of strange stuff in the names. UD is stretched very thin, so probably is not going to provide any features in the near future. :bang:
I can handle all of them usually, not sure what is going on here. Because I am getting 16 pages og HTML I think it's actually failing on some of them. I've got extra logging in it to try and determine what is going on...
Bok
hmmm,
it's because I'm getting this on some of the pages..
An error occurred on the server when processing this page. Please try your request again or return at a later time
so 250 users for each page are being missed. Not entirely sure what I can do about it. I guess I could code something in to try again.. let me try that.
Bok
Ok,
The problem seems to have gone away now anyway though I've added code to retry each page 4 times if needed.

Bok THAT is a problem at UD with member lists of large teams. There is nothing wrong with your TV set.
I saw that today and have seen it before. I have found that it is worse in the morning when many are looking at statistics, and may be better later in the day when there is less server activity. Teams with many pages run slower. That's all you can do. Retry if you want, or just try later....or some other day
Sometimes it takes me several tries to get the page I want....or I give up for now.

UD is running statistics right now at an unusual time, because they were 14 days behind on team statistics.
Don't even try to capture members until later.
Actually, as it turned out, UD is DEBUGGING the statistics, so it will be up and down for the near term.
Bok
I received a request to have this WCG team added to your stats database:
GrenouilleTeamFrance (http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=42Z298SPBN1)
Thank you.
P.S,......I hear that your system still dislikes my team names. :D
ok, I'll add.
Just an issue with quotes :) It's fixed in most projects :p

Bok, Could you please add the Folding@Home team, Vulture Central VI ?
Thanks. :D
Team is #46400,
but there are no members in the team?
http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=teampage&teamnum=46400
So no stats show up on the Stanford site. Until someone produces a wu, I can't add it to my stats. Let me know when that happens..
Perhaps it's just a the servers broken temporarily, I'm not sure.

Thanks.

O.K., let's try this again now that I have some stats at Folding@Home. :D
Could you add Vulture Central VI to the list?
Thanks.

but I don't think they have exported your txt file just yet..they'll show up I expect in a few hours..

minor problem....
http://stats.free-dc.org/tag.php?name=fingerle
My stats fro F@H are not showing, and I know you added it to your list, but Vulture Central VI isn't showing on the FAH page. :help:
Did I miss something at my end?
I don't know why but stanford is not producing a page for your team like the others..
For instance for Free-DC team I get
http://vspx27.stanford.edu/teamstats/team758.txt
For your team it should be
http://vspx27.stanford.edu/teamstats/team46400.txt
But it doesn't exist :(

Thanks for the info.

Bok I found this...the team page...by asking for a search of 46400. Perhaps they only start new text files (above) every now and then.

I was looking at the list of teams with txt files. Lots of missing team numbers. It was also speculated by a friend, that they may not export the file for one member teams. That would explian why VC6 doesn't have a file.
Want me to run in a new user for you on that team then? I'll do at least one wu...

I've been toying with the idea of adding a second rig/registration myself. If nothing else than to test the one member team theory.
Thanks for the offer Bok.

The WCG team stats are still dicey this morning.
On the other hand, WCG changed their website a bit yesterday, and could have messed with some statistics links.

Bok, I have noticed that only 3 of the 10 Teams are showing stats at UD.
Our Team (Andrax.net) is not one of them.
Anything you can do to help.
Thanks!
Edit: We are not even listed in the "Overall" group.

Ok,
I'll take a look as soon as I get a chance.

Greetings.
Guess I posted my question in the wrong forum area.
We've just started a new World Community Grid Team called "BitBenderTech" and we would very much appreciate getting onboard the stats bandwagon.
I was sent by Johnny Cool and told to ask for Bok. :D

Bok, same problem today. Only 3 Teams have stats for the UD project.
Andrax.net is still not working.
I know you are busy. Whenever you get a chance ...

I know.
I did some debugging on it on saturday, but didn't find out why it's not working, then their server went down for some time and I couldn't continue :(
Working now unfortunately, but I'll get to it..

Bok, many thanks!
Think I've fixed it. Looks like where I parse the team name from on the page has been altered slightly. Some teams have an extra space on the end which meant redoing the parsing.
Let me know if it looks ok now..

I had been a participant in FightAIDS@home, which used 'distributed computing' via the Entropy program, and it has just now switched over to World Community Grid. Anyway, I could never get the 'team' function to work with Entropy, so now that they have switched, I am VERY EXCITED because we are going to KICK SOME ASS now that we can finally get the team function working. LOOK OUT!!!!
Anyway, I visited this forum and read this thread to see how to get our stats added here, and when I clicked on the link in one of the above messages from Boink??, I received an error message of some sort asking me to add a 'Bug'??
Anyway, my team is "HomeBrewers". That's right -- we brew beer! ... and I've got homebrewer friends all over the world who I've asked to join me.
Please list our team in our stats, or tell me how to do it.
Thanks.

Thank you so much. I think the idea of some friendly competition between teams really makes this fun. So many big teams with a big headstart, but I like a challenge, so I'm going to really work hard to build a big team.
