Xmas is coming and I thought it would be nice to have a party for our membership

I have received donations of 50.00 from CaptainMooseInc And 25.00 from PY222    And I will match that amount to bring it to a total of $150.00

The Xmas party would be a good time and place to disperse the moneys to our membership
:|party|: I would like to hold this party live like in a IRC chat or a forum thread:|party|:
Anybody have any thoughts on it Or the best time to hold it speak up
:welcome:  :weggy: :tramp: :drink: :hiya: :fridge: :slap: :sofa: :reddress: :viking:

That sounds like a great idea.

I think the obvious place for the irc chat would would the Free-DC irc server that is never used. But since we don't know how many people are coming, there should be a thread that names other servers that could mirror the chat(if that's possible).

It would also be nice if we could run a giveaway a little later for the people who join and crunch for Free-DC because of the chat. Maybe two weeks after the chat, we could figure out who joined around that time, and if they've crunched more than a week for Free-DC they get included in a special giveaway just for them.

We'll see what details come about here and maybe just do giveaways during the chat /shrug anything is possible.

Lauren, I'll throw something in the pot too, $100 or so.

IRC chat would be good - it is pretty easy to setup an IRC bot that could run a Bingo or Quiz game for everyone in the channel... with prizes dished out depending on best scores for the evening.

Would be a good laugh

SO what day and time should we have this online Xmas party ??
PY are you going to be in charge of the :fridge: :drink:

Definately needs to be on a weekend. Like a Saturday or Sunday. Probably like mid-day on a Saturday or something. Ummm....as to when to hold it???

Maybe Saturday December 10th or December 17th??? That way at least some people might be able to get finals (High School and College alike) out of the way but not interfere with X-Mas Eve. :)

But I don't know when Hannaka (spelling?) starts up so I don't wanna interfere with that either...

I'll come. I'll even play a game or two if TargetButt's willing to spend a few minutes on a FPS server with me. :D

So What shall we do this year for our Free-DC X-Mas party
I am asking the memberships input on what kind of things they would
like to see do or get this year.
I would like to do something new as I am sure the membership does as well
Just remember no hookers:slap:

Well, a plane ticket to the states (or anywhere at all!) is outta my reach, so an IRC party of some description? Random silliness and games is always fun :D

We always have held the party in the IRC chat-room sometime just before X-mas
In the past We have done :umm: Lotto, Trivia, Bingo and a search game

I was Looking for a New game or contest that we can do in IRC

As you all know by now I am a :bathroom: Plumber:bath: by trade and not into IT that deep
:umm: So all you techs out there step up and think about it

I think I still have my game room up at my website (not sure) But I am not sure if we could use it or how we could score it

Was informed last week that the owner of my block of flats is planning to demolish them prior to christmas. A panicked week of searching has resulted in a new flat, but my phone and interwebs need to be relocated, and my telco is saying between a few days and two weeks depending on the infrastructure.

But never fear! If I had to rock up to my office, esky under my arm, then so be it :D

What a really annoying thing to happen any time of the year, let alone this close to Christmas..

Let's hope you can still make it! :)

I do not think that can do that I think that they need a 60+ day notice to evict you

Was there a Court notice served to you that you had 30 days to leave?
People do have Rights did you have a lease in force if so was it up or did it still have time to go? You might be able to recover your moving costs and or rent in a forced eviction

EDIT
See now you got me confused I thought I was replying to paleseptember
Ya it might be different Down Under...

Actually, the lights were already up. I just picked up one of those "GE/Mr. Christmas Sounds and Lights of Christmas". Only 6 channels and the music and programming is preset... but for $60 it isn't bad.

One of these years I'm going to go all out and spend the $$$ on a "real" 16 or 32 channel controller. You can do much, much more with them including fading and custom programming. (But, boy oh boy are they expensive) ;)

I'll get a better video with sound once the weather settles down... it's absolute crap today with snow, ice, and wind. :( (had to deflate all the blowups even)

At any rate, can't wait for the PARTY!!! :santa:

For Laurenu2: For a fixed term lease (ie, less than six months) only 14 days notice is required. Once that initial six months is up, you move to a Continuing Lease, and then 60 days notice is needed.

Meh. I've found something to live, have destroyed my muscles lugging my stuff around (oh why oh why do I have so much stuff??) and having interweb withdrawals >.<

Oh, and my computer didn't like the move. The fan is overrevving whenever I try something CPU-intensive. Will need to poke at it, see what's gone wrong :(
