Does anyone have any preferences on good organizers ?

This is for my wife for use on XP Pro sharing our mp3 collection on a network drive.

Ideally I want to be able to sort by genre, artist, album and make playlists. I'm using the Creative Media Organizer which I quite like, I've also got the Nero media player which doesn't seem great as well as Winamp which doesn't seem to do the sorting I'd like.

Any others out there ?

I don't really listen to music much from mp3s, but I have heard good things about itunes as an organizer.

iTunes and iPod mini here. Also, an airport express plugged in out in the living room so I can beam music right from the computer to the stereo..

I believe iTunes is a free download from Apple. Of course they're trying to entice you into connecting to the music store and buying some music on line, which iTunes makes very easy...

I'm not sure if i-tunes works without ipod. If it works without an ipod, I definitely recommend it, although I'd definitely recommend AGAINST buying from the store or buying an ipod.

When I bought my ipod, it was the best thing out there, but now you've got these "rental plans" where you have access to millions of tracks for $15-$20(I think). If you can get itunes to work with those plans, more power to you, otherwise you might want to look elsewhere.

Of course, you have your own preferences, and might prefer to own your music. You might prefer something totally different. I got burned when I discovered Apple wouldn't cooperate with the rental plan stores, so I'm obviously prejudiced against Apple. YMMV.
