A Crunching Linux/BSD distro ?

Is there a crunching Linux or BSD distro around.

One that has the basic parts needed for crunching with a variety of CPU targeted kernels ?

I guess it would need samba and java as well to be able to run most projects between a mixed environment ?

Just about all of them would qualify for this..

Just do a minimal installation then include java, samba and anything esle you want.
