Any thoughts? Something on the server need to be tweaked?

Tried again today..and many times this weekend...the server been down all that time? Same error message....Protein changeover...
The Linux client starts up .. BeOS won't.

The network library has been updated since the last version, and it is possible it no longer works on BeOS. I will check it when I get the chance but it may be the case that we'll have to discontinue BeOS support as the networking API on it has continually been a problem for us. (It is missing many POSIX symbols)

When Zeta from YellowTab.com comes out, if I sent you a copy would you do the support? Or are there just not enough Be users to justify the work?

I tested the BeOS version on our BeBox and it still seems to upload OK, so should be working. You are probably our only BeOS userAnyways, no idea what Zeta is but if its something for only BeOS then its not likely...

on the distributedfolding.org page you could build up a download counter for the beos client. so you could determine how many users you have
Well damn...it sits there and doesn't talk..maybe it's the router. It won't even authenticate on initial startup where it checks for new version.
Would putting something in my hosts file help? I'd love to use BeOS.

Chinasaur, I'm having problems with my BeOS df installation, too! You're not the only person on the planet still running BeOS (though to be honest I'm typing this on my iBook, and have mostly switched to a combo of OSX & Linux here at home).
Here's the error I'm getting upon completion of generation 0:

after reading about some of the issues with the windows clients, I downloaded the new version manually. It's a slightly newer version:

The Wednesday update fixed the problem I was having. Took a while to get to gen1, but it successfully got there. Fixing the Windows problem may have inadvertently fixed the BeOS one, too!

I had this problem last year behind a Linksys wireless router..now I have a DLink router..same thing. I hook up my SonicWall firewall and it goes away..something to do with Be's network stack not being up to date I think..not yer problem. Was just hoping an entry in the hosts file or something would help.
And BeOS is a great OS... it shouldn't stay dead(I know you were kidding)

Do you run netserver or BONE?
I've always ran netserver, and sometimes things get goofy with my linksys router when the cable modem gets a new IP lease. Seems like every 3-4 days I have to restart netserver if it won't talk to the rest of the intarweb.
BONE is a completely different story, and I'm not sure I can help. I've never installed Dano

No BONE. Just NetServer. As Linux runs DF faster than BeOS anyway, I'll stick with Knoppix till Zeta comes out and try again. If I have to I'll jury-rig the old firewall in place so it can do the handshaking DF needs.
