    Slow on windows 98

    I run the text client on win98se because Linux cant reach the internet on my pc because problems with my provider. But when I highlight the window it goes fast as it should but when an other window is highlighted it goes slow, what is the problem???

    The client runs at low priority. When you hilight other Windows, perhaps win98 devotes more CPU time to them. See the readme for info on how to change the priority the client runs at, though we do not recommend you do this.

    If it's not that, it might be something with the ASCII art output. On Win98 (actually, on almost all Windows variants) a large chunk of CPU is taken up just by drawing the ASCII art -- if you run the client in quiet mode (-qt switch), it'll speed up quite a bit (up to 20% or more). Might be worth a shot before messing with the priority...
